How to safely remove a roof?

I want to add a 2nd floor to my house, but how do I remove a roof safely without falling to my death.

Build a window frame near an edge and put a sheet rope (or rope). It's quick and easy.

I know, but I want to remove the roof panels, and add another floor. With custom walls and stuff.

Its not safe, if you can't stop yourself from falling off the floor.

What I do is build a bit of the floor, and use the sledge hammer to smash the 'visible' roof sections. Then build some more floor, and smash more roof sections. Just work your way across and try not to fall off the floor your building.

Yeah that worked, it apperantly didn't work in the first place because there were fences attached to the roof. Thanks for the help though!
