Destiny 2
"hold" players after they disconnect, at least during Strikes.
I am not sure how do other games do this, but at least in a Moba, and SOME royales, if you disconnect, you still have a chance to reconnect and not lose progress, because on those games, if you would simply "die" without being able to come back, it would be a ruining experience.
Recently, for reasons beyond my control, my connection has been flickering, and this has been quite a problem when doing Strikes, because just a single drop kicks me out and there is no way to return. This has happened a few times already and has resulted in maybe more than 1 hour or 2 of total progress lost. Time I will never have back. So, to minimize this, could there be a way for players to still rejoin? Because most of the time I try again I find a new team and have to start fresh.

The game already provides that option. I don't know why you are not being given it.
but do I have to check something in settings? is it checked by default? because it is being a little annoying. I will take a look at that later and report back, thanks!

You're welcome. Rejoin is automatic; built into the game. Destiny 2 is a hybrid game. Bungie uses servers to house the game content and peer to peer for game activity. One player hosts the game activity while the other connect to that host and share game activity files. If your connection is bad, Bungie monitoring programs may be forcing you to start with another group. Bungie is big on preventing network manipulation. Unfortunately, honest players suffer as a result.
