Free to Play in 2025?
So I played for nearly 7 hours, and I can officially say. Not worth without DLC. Yes there is a bit I can do, but I also gotta give the game personal data just to do free raids? Nope, not happening.

Err, what personal data?

If you’re referring to the DoB requirement, that’s just so Bungie can comply with the age of digital consent laws. All companies are required by law to have measures in place to protect minors. All Bungie are doing is checking if you’re an above the age of digital consent or not (13 years).

For full information regarding that, see this link.

If you’re referring to the phone number requirement, that is just in place to stop cheaters and other malicious users. You don’t need to give them your number, it just has to be a number that can receive a text so Bungie security can confirm you're a real person not a bot.

Giving a company a phone number is pretty much standard these days to help combat bots. Steam itself asks for a phone number and other information.

you can put any date of birth you want. it doesn't have to be your own.

Free to try has a time limit, this doesn't.
Free to play, in spite of what some think is not the same as everything is free.

where did you get that free to try has a time limit? that's not necessarily the truth, there are so many free to try games without a time limit; they often just limit the amount of experience or enjoyment you get out of the product unless you buy the whole thing. a trial or a demo doesn't need a time limit.

Try and play, you might note, are not the same words and do not share a definition.
Free trials are limited, in D2 you can reach max level free, you can play the content that is free as much and long as you wish. That new effect thing has a free trial, it last 12 hours, it's not free to play, it's a trial.

bro you need the dlc, there isnt anything you can do, I do not understand why bungie has to vault the old content, the red war was amazing and very cool, they can honestly make a legends area and just have older dlc there, or atleast release DLC packs that let you play the older dlcs as a separate download.

Totally don't realize that you gave Steam, and other platforms your phone number as well.
