Getting into Destiny 2?
Is there any reason to get into this game before the Final Shape? Witch Queen and Lightfall are both on sale, but I know they remove old content, so i don't want to buy something only for it to disappear in a few weeks. I only ever played the original Destiny 2 campaign (the one that's gone now) when it first came to Steam years ago, so I'm not sure what I'm getting into with buying the new stuff.

Should I just wait for Final Shape and start from there or is it worth playing WQ and Lightfall since they're on a hefty sale rn.

They no longer remove old content. With the latest update (Into The Light) they give you the opportunity to skip "new light" quest and jump right into the main game so to say. Also, ITL has a great activity (Onslaught) to farm some good weapons. Destiny is a big game and might be a little bit overwhelming in the beginning but the info about everything is abundant. In my opinion it's totally worth it if you like the idea of shooting + magic in the futuristic world. However, be ready to grind. Good luck!

The only thing that is going to be removed come the Final Shape is the seasonal content from the Lightfall year. All expansion content says in the game and Bungie has said they will no longer be removing any content tied to expansions. So basically everything is safe from removal except for the seasonal content which is tied to "Lightfall + Annual Pass". As long as you avoid that specific purchase you'll be safe.

Glad to know they aren't removing the content anymore. Seems so weird to me still that they did that.

Any suggestions on how to tackle the current content. Like in what order for someone who's new to play it in?

You could do it in story wise which would be Shadowkeep->Beyond Light->Witch Queen->Lightfall. If you don't care to much about the story I would skip shadowkeep and then get Beyond Light and Lightfall for the subclasses though you would be missing out on the best campaign from Witch Queen.

It doesn't matter if they're no longer removing content. They've taken away so much and who knows when that older content will return, if ever. If you've played D1, then wait until FS. The end to a 10-year story begins this june.

I prefer playing game for the story so I’ll prob go in that order. Appreciate the help

I don't think anyone's foaming at the mouth to play Red War again...

Speak for yourself; the first and last few missions were great.

With a truck load of boring between them.
It wasn't awful, but it wasn't great.
I frustrated one of my grandsons, he was shocked at how little of the story I had done, comments like "you haven't done that yet?".

same as for stasis quests.

Good info. Been wanting to jump in since having not played it since launch (pre Steam even), but there's so much DLC that I'm not sure what to buy and where to begin.
