Why Isn't the Upcoming Marathon Game Just a Destiny Spin-off Instead?

No one knows what Marathon is, like a 30-year-old game on Mac that maybe 5 people actually played at the time.

Destiny is an established game that almost any modern gamer at least heard of before, and it is ripe for the genre of extraction shooters too with just even reading cliff notes of lore from the first game.

Also, it worked for Apex Legends (for those who don't know, Apex Legends is a spin-off of Titanfall). I dunno, I mean end of the day with modern gamers who mostly weren't alive when Marathon came out, the game will sink or swim based on Bungie's clout and its own merits but I just feel from a simple concept and marketing POV, making this a Destiny spin-off makes waaay more sense.

Anywho, discuss I guess lol like would you as Destiny players like this to be the case? Are you excited about Marathon? Is anyone in here who plays Bungie games today, even aware of its existence? XD If you are one of those unicorns though, for what reason do you think Marathon is a better IP for this upcoming game than Destiny? Legit just curious here, watched that trailer, and it's neat, but then just couldn't shake this train of thinking afterward.

but to answer your question we already are getting a spin-off! Called Destiny Rising. It’s a mobile game but it is really good! I was an alpha tester

As for Marathon I think it looks really good too, i don’t play games like Tarkov or Apex Legends but since Bungie is making it I will try it out anyway. I signed up to get into the alpha for Marathon too I hope i get accepted
