I don't understand how it works... (older content replayability)
I came back to the game after 1-2 years of stop (bought the Humble Bundle pack), left in the middle of the Forsaken campaign.

As I logged in I have been flooded by new icons/rewards/etc. and at some point the game just told me to go to the destinations tab where there is some kind of chronology of the game and I had an icon on the Renegades "timeline".

"oh cool, so now I can play every campaign again!" I though. I did like one mission in the campaign, then I got a CGI cutscene and... back to the timeline selection.

Wtf? Was it supposed to let you play only one mission or am I missing something? :|

EDIT: I also see that I cannot replay the previous campaign, just that one and some later ones. I don't really understand how it works...

It really just lets you play one mission and that's it. This was done not too long ago in a pathetic attempt to improve the experience and understanding of the story for new players. In other words, they're trying in vain to fix a problem they created themselves.

And no, you won't be able to play the old campaigns (Red war, Curse of Osiris, Warmind and Forsaken), they were removed from the game at the same time as the Beyond Light DLC was released. Reasons - too large game size, engine update, the need to test old content after each new update, stability of game servers and all that kind of stuff.

So I should feel "lucky" enough to have played everything until Forsaken... lol

Anyway that's a real s**t. I mean, what's the excuse? How can a new player understand the lore/events by playing only the latest expansions?

It really drives me nuts. And I remember that they talked about the vault s**t before, but as soon as I saw that "timeline" I thought they went back and gave us the whole package.

The thing that makes me even more sad is that we PAYED for that content, and now it is gone for good.

Well played...

Anyway thanks for the explaination, I was feeling dumb lol

EDIT: just to be sure... Beyond Light is still playable?

Yeah, as for the expansions, from Shadowkeep onwards they are playable. The seasons that came out between expansions on the other side have also been removed. So don't be surprised if suddenly, without explanation, new characters are introduced and some old ones suddenly die or resurrect.

lol I just reopened the game (like the 4th time today) and totally out of nowhere it shown me a cutscene that almost spoiled me every expansions until Lightfall I think.

Just why...

Basically, base game story, shelfed and lorebooked. You not be able to play and meet up with Cayde with his chicken, Never see Osiris's Ghost, a lot of planets got vaulted.

You might get lil mission's, but all the real main stuff is roughly at Stasis start off and going forward. So there be a reason on expansion buying.
