How is this game SOLO?
Thinking about playing Destiny 2, how is experience as a solo player?

It's MMO-like, so most of the time the game won't let you play purely solo. The game will match you up with partners in about 50% of the game content, though. But for the hardest content like dungeons, raids and high difficulty strikes (the only content that matters in the game, in my opinion) you'll have to find a team for yourself, either in Discord or on the official LFG page on Bungie's website. Next season (around early December) the developers will add LFG in the game itself.

it's doable with a bit of luck and a whole ass of free time

but read this; it's a long, tiring, and annoying road to run the grind for the right gear if you want to do the whole game as a solo player

what i'm suggest is do the grind with friends or clanmates if you joined any

Its a lot of fun.

You dont have to do any of the mandatory mic-on activities like raids you have to learn, a lot of the matchmaking stuff can be learned by just doing and watching the others.

The missions and bounties and all that can be done solo can also consume a good amount of time, there is absolutely no need to sweat and rush and play this with others to speed things up.

It's not going to be like an Elder Scrolls game, due to the setup of this game being some sort of a semi-MMO, but as I said, for a lot of stuff, and i mean a LOT of stuff, you dont need to play with others.

And before you realize it you will see yourself enjoying playing with OTHERS and before you do a double take and look twice, you will play raids with 5 other people, enjoying all the MMO aspects. Happened to me like that too. Introduced by friends, played solo, then started doing more MP activities, then the first Mic-on voice communication activities and now I'm doing it all from PVP to 6 man raids.

its fine solo up until you get to end game and start playing raids, dungeons, legend activities, etc

I play mostly solo and I think it OK. Strikes, Gambit etc will matchmake to add two other players, obviously PvP will put you with and against other players.

The best advice I can give is download and try the free to play content and see what you think. I can't say what you will think of this game.

well, all thats true, you need to stay away from super/ability&grenade bounties bc your teammates will always be faster than you.
open world might work-lost sectors if you are patient but legendaries? rather not, need a certain powerlevel.
overall the f2p demo, bc the game is not truly f2p unless you pay for some season pass+ dlcs requires you to grind less bc there is less you are allowed to do.
just try it casually, im fine with loggin in even though craftings a tad weird.

pretty good, better with friends though; go out and socialize, it's good for you

I Mostly play with friends but its alright solo.
You can do most things solo but in the end you will need to find teams if you ever think about doing raids and dungeons or high level nightfalls.
Unless you are some kind of cracked god then you can do dungeons and nightfalls alone (i did solo flawless 2 dungeons and i gotta say it's hard) but for raids you will still need a team because they are centered around doing mechanics that can only be done with multiple people.

They force you to use their website and official phone app to find groups because of third party revenue streams.
They do not force you at all, how ridiculous. Use the 100.io if you do not want to use the bungie app.

no it isnt, unless you want to raid. I dont understand why if you dislike the game so much you bother to comment

Almost anything in the game can be completed solo, but specific activities later on will get very difficult without others. You can use LFG for those (there is an official app, with an in-game LFG next season).

The only way you will have trouble as a solo player is if you absolutely cannot use LFG for whatever reason.
