I see that each vendor sells weapons and armor but are there any that are worth getting?

Yeah, definitely. There are usually some weapons that, when combined with the right roll for perks, can be very good. Some of the vendors will sell stuff with different perks from day to day, eventually turning up something good. Then there's Xur who will show up on Friday and there's no knowing what he will have.

Yes, although it varies.

I suggest taking a look at the front page of light.gg, both Banshe-44's and Xûr's stocks are rated there, so you can tell at a glance what's likely to be good.
