just came back. what gun do i *need*
I was a pvp sweat. luna's howl, not forgotten, redrix claymore, throwing knife, trials weapons, etc etc i was that guy who had them all. even dabbled in gambit and got a god roll gnawing hunger. its all sun set and im told it cant be raised to maximum power level so whats the new "Meta" weapons around. im not going for the exclusive pvp weapons right now as im forced to start at 1600 power level but want to keep an eye out for other strong weapons.

Those will still work in most PVP modes. Current bane of PVP is the Immortal SMG.

If your endgame is pvp, get yourself a forbearance for pve. It will blow through any and all content and is generally considered the best all round gun in the game and will speed up any activities considerably. The pvp meta summed up in weapons is the immortal dominating close quarters, 140rpm hand cannons dominating the midranges, the kings of which are generally considered to be rose and fatebringer, and no time to explain or the messenger dominate the far ranges (messenger is coming back next season). Grenade launchers and fusion rifles are incredibly overpowered but unpopular and difficult to use, shotguns are the weakest they've ever been but still strong due to ease of use. Matador, found verdict and riiswalker are the top shotguns. Sniper rifles still dominate the battlefield as they always have, though their effectiveness is somewhat reduced by striker titan being very meta right now, and barricades largely countering snipers.

basically shotgun meta in pvp
people sliding around every corner with a shotgun and 1 tapping from 10m away.

i still have god rolls of the best of the best shotguns from back then. 10m away is childs play to them. also its funny seeing this comment as people complained about this since day 1 of pvp lol.

awesome. ty. what about exotics? in pve bad juju feels really good. i cant tell whats amazing and what sucks anymore. gnawing hunger still feels amazing to me but when i started getting better gear thats when i realized they didnt get rid of sunsetting, however im able to keep infusing my exotics. also... the fkn stat thing i kind of dislike. use to get grenades so often now its so slow.

Bungie has been going on a crusade to buff underused and useless exotics recently, so things like two tailed fox are now actually in the dps meta and even skyburners isn't completely useless. That said, while most exotics are now usable, there are still outliers. You can easily find a million different lists of people ranking exotics in a number of categories, permutations, skill levels or situations, but the short summary of what mostly everyone agrees are S-tier would be Witherhoard, osteo striga, ager's sceptre, and trinity ghoul for pve, as well as the usual culprits for pvp being: ace, thorn, hawkmoon, duality, le monarque, and tarrabah. A lot of others also fit in the S tier for different people, but a large majority of exotics now could be described as "strong", up from "useless" a year ago
