Try renaming the Destiny 2 folder located in the temp folder.
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Temp
Look for folder name "Destiny 2"
Change folder name to something like Destiny 2_backup.
Launch the game and it should work. If not report back to this thread.

I am also having the same issue, keeps downloading the game only to get error coded again on launch...endless loop. I cannot access the suggested folder above to change name either.

What happens when you try to go to appdata? On any Windows installation you should be able to go into the folder no problems.

Nvm, the issue is that by default windows hides stuff like that, althought appdata should be defaulted to unhidden.
Windows 10:
Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
Select View > Options > Change folder and search options.
Select the View tab and, in Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives and OK.
Windows 11:
Click View > Show > Hidden Items.

This seems like a different issue that the fix I posted doesn't do anything. Looking into finding a solution but since I am not experiencing this issue myself, it's a bit challenging.

Try this, grabbed from a reddit post about the same issue of it not logging in and saying the servers are down.
"Try clearing your download Cache. Settings -> Downloads -> Clear Download Cache"

Steam maintenance every week, same time. When Steam takes the "friends" part of their network down for maintenance, Destiny 2 will not authenticate. Takes a few, then comes back up like normal.
