Why do they keep removing content?

A friend of mine started playing again they never did forsaken and shadow keep so i was excited to take them through it only to find forsaken is gone?

they paid money for that expac and never got to do it which kinda sucks. Also not being able to go back and do the redwar, osris and warmind is actually kinda sad instead its just (wake up, do strikes, do pvp, get risk runner, good luck lmao) Honestly would it be so hard to just have an in the past history segment with instanced story missions from the past dlc/seasons?

she also doesnt have the new dlcs cause they cost quite alot here in AUS so once we finish shadow keep all we really have left is just dares, strikes and pvp right?

I too wish they did not sunset those expansions, but from what I know those others were sunsetted because their server could not handle them and the latest Expansion, so they put the older Expansions in the Lock up (so to Speak) to make room for the latest one.

Also, if you have ShadowKeep, you can still do the "Key Missions" for it, the extra stuff is what was removed, but my 2nd char did Shadopwkeep after the removals and couyld only do the Main Missions.

Also they have removed all the blue grade weapons too, the drops now will either be Purple or Exotic, mainly Legendary. But that in a nutshell is why they removed old content, as the newer stuff took up much needed space. You would need to visit the Bungie Site and look up the reasons in full.

But the price on these Expansions are high I have to agree with you, even here in the UK.

Damn i spose that makes sense id assume a company like bungie could afford to have the old content on the servers but if they couldnt handle it i guess it makes sense, still bums me out tho.

yea basically would only buy beyond light and witch queen at this point if there was a sale aye.

Nothing from Shadowkeep has been removed.

Did your friend buy the Forsaken Expansion?
Or the Forsaken Pack?

Those are two different products. The Expansion contained a campaign (featuring the death of Cayde-6, and the retribution of the Guardian). The Campaign (along with the Tangled Shore Destination) was removed as of the release of Witch Queen and has not been available for play for about 19 months now.

The Forsaken Pack is a smaller product that includes access to the Forsaken exotics, the Shattered Throne Dungeon and the Last Wish Raid. Those are still in the game and still accessible. Which is why the Forsaken Pack is still for sale.

No one likes the fact that they removed the older content, but Bungie was dealing with some back-end technical issues that made that content impossible to carry forward in any sort of reasonable time frame (or for any sort of reasonable cost).

Do also note that the Legacy Collection (and the individual expansions within it) goes on sale at least once a season. There is also a big Steam store-wide sale coming up in a couple of weeks. Your friend can probably pick up Beyond Light for $15 AUD (on sale) or Witch Queen for around $22 AUD (again, on sale).

Also note, Bungie has said they will not be removing any more Expansion content going forward, so all of that is permanent content.

the thing about blue gear is both true and false actually yes after a certain power lvl you dont get blue drops anymore but in certain areas like for Neptune terminal public events you can actually get some blue weapons i actually get some from time to time

She bought d2 back when it had a pack that included forsaken and shadowkeep. She played the base game but never the dlc's so she never saw caydes death and story quests.

Maybe one day in the future they will fix the back end stuff and bring it all back but damn that sucks.

As for the extra stuff to do. we dont raid LMAO ive only done 2 raids the old calus raid for the gold armour paint and the beyond light raid with the exo fallen guy. other than that we basically have no intrest in raiding so that throws those out the window.

im glad they wont remove content anymore but ♥♥♥♥ man i bought d2 for the story and im ♥♥♥♥♥♥ sad all thats gone, hopefully the new dlc's go on sale like you said cause at least we can pick those up for her.

He didn't say they stopped removing content, he said they stopped removing expansion content. Seasons that are still paid content and that still contain important events for the story - are still regularly removed with the release of a new expansion.

So if you came here for the story, good luck figuring out the whole mess of new characters, character deaths, and events that happened a long time ago that you no longer have access to, but the game still assumes that you know about them.

Ye and just to make things worse they then make you replay missions with the old dialogue. So you can literally be hearing dead charachters speak hahaha .

There are a variety of sources through which certain blue gear can still be acquired one example being The Witch Queen armour sets which can still be acquired through completion of the Legendary campaign. The point I was making was that those items haven't been removed as the user I quoted claimed.

Amanda's storyline was last season and will be available in-game for another ~8 months.
