Side Note: Let people have their holiday break.
Um, it has not been holiday time for several weeks now. Thats not a valid excuse any longer.
It is extremely common for people to take a full month off for holidays. Taking Dec 18th to Jan 12th off is four weeks (one month), and means they return to offices on Jan 15th. For most industries this would not even consume four weeks of vacation but just three or maybe even two depending on how generous your employer is on their holidays.
For example my employer gives us Dec 25th to Jan 5th off, as default. I used two of my four weeks of vacation to get a full month off. This isn't that uncommon.
And it wouldn't make sense to put half-baked info out while some of the team might still be on vacation.
Piss off and let people enjoy their hard-earned vacation time lmao.
And you as well.
Lol, want to know what kind of company lets you take THAT much tome off at once. I get 5 weeks of PTO yearly, but I have never wasted most in a single month.
Bungie is a service company. With that they should not be taking a month or more off, especially during their most important time for development.
Force out a TWID during when there is not much to say - "Bungie gave up on the game. No TWID. The tower has fallen, billions must uninstall."
Illusion of choice.
If your company constricts your ability to use your paid vacation time during the holidays, congratulations, you're in a clockwork contraption fueled by blood and you should look for a better job. There's a shortage of workers in every industry right now, do some shopping, get better conditions.
Also not sure wtf you mean by 'most of it in one month'.
I used half of it.
And that's vacation days. I get 10 sick leave days as well if something bad happens or I get sick or whatever. So why would I not be comfortable using two weeks for the holidays and then two weeks during the summer?
Also WTF do you mean their most important time? Crunch culture is toxic and cancerous and should not be encouraged. If they can't handle their team using their vacation time then hire more people. If your game lives and dies based on your team making use of their vacation days then it wasn't worth making in the first place.
That is extremely uncommon in this day and age, especially in America.
Usually vacation days don't roll over to the next year, so you start at 0 on January 1st.
There is no way in hell most managers in the US are going to let you take that much time off at the beginning of the year anyway. And in the tech industry? Hell no.
