Maybe because they would have to rewrite Shadowkeep to remove her?
From her throne world she can also come back.

Edit: It's actually kind of cool, as I understand it, you can only kill someone who has a throne world IN that throne world. A bit like having her ghost back?

That is not how throne worlds works. Crota been stuck in his for years and could return into the real world only by his minions making some rituals outside

Yet Savithun could go to hers and any other destination. Xivu Arath was locked out of her throne world by Eris, I think that is the very one. I think it IS how they work, pretty sure I remember the story telling me final death is ONLY in their throne world. Not the same thing as being locked in it.

How come you can replay older missions or campaigns if they already happened.
Because video games.

Bungie just didn't bother removing her from The Moon since she's coming back anyway.

Clyde is not a Vendor or a NPC during any of the Campaigns currently in the game.
In fact he dies at the start of the first major (now removed) expansion.
You could also hear dialogue whit Cayde in some missions although they changed one of them to no longer feature him.
Eris is way to integral to many Story segments in the older campaigns to just remove.

In my opinion they should have done what FFXIV did and change the world state depending on your personal story progression not have some kind of fake Living real time story ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
I remember a new player wondering why we suddenly have the same aliens we ware fighting at the start of the game living peacefully in the tower alongside humans when you finally get to it.

It's certainly a challenge to combine the game's story with its gameplay and visual content. I thought the $3 billion (bi, mf, not mi) developers would be able to handle it.
I was wrong.

The money that Sony paid to purchase them isn't money that Bungie just have in hand to spend however they see fit. A company being valued at a certain price isn't at all the same thing as them having that amount in available assets.

1) A third of the purchase price was specifically set aside for staff retention bonuses.
2) The rest went to buying out shares from the previous shareholders.

This is all great. But only Blizzard cost Microsoft more than Bungie did for Sony. Meanwhile, other studios also have all these "retention bonuses", "shares", etc. And many of them (costing MUCH less) develops great NEW games.
Bungie is not an indie studio. But the results of their work have become many times worse than famous indies. And this cannot be justified by a lack of finances.

Yes! Make Eris disappear when you do the current story! It would be totally awesome if you couldn't go back and do any quests that require her! I love the idea of making older content unplayable to help a dozen people not complain about immersion!

D2 is designed with player freedom in mind, not with "muh immershin"
