Reflective Flake from Kell's fall
Only being able to get the reflective flakes from kells fall is completely dumb and is already making me hate this exotic mission. You only get 3-4 from a run. Bungie wants us to replay these missions untill we cant stand the place. I thought "what a relief, I can get all 4 intrinsic upgrades from the new exotic in 1 run and not have to run this exotic mission 4 separate times". Now looking at the new tonics and what they require is a complete joke. If you want to craft more of the new tonics, guess what? Yup thats right you have to do more of Kells Fall. Absolutely amazing how bungie forces you to run the same mission over and over and over untill you never want to step foot in it.

The only development going on is just the grind side of things. Don't buy into it.

Reminder that if you don't care about tonics... YOU DON'T NEED TO UNLOCK THEM. "Why is this optional grind so grindy" idk maybe just don't do it when it stops being fun? You have several months to finish this content, chill out.

No one is talking about caring about tonics and not caring about tonics. Every time a new exotic mission comes out, bungies whole design philosophy and mindset is to have players play it so much that you end up being repulsed to it by just the thought of entering the mission again. Also, no one is raging or freaking out about it and it definitely doesnt live rent free in my head. Its bad game design and im pointing it out. If the content actually had substance, bungie wouldnt need to artificially extend player time. Now theres multiple ways to fix this and i am not against doing something more than 1 time but when you need to do the exact same thing more than 11 times it screams lazy and uninspired game design.

It would be awesome if i could have a good conversation on here about how to fix the issues that almost everyone is tired of and one of the many reasons why everyone is dropping this game but instead i get talked to like how most people talk to toddlers.

??? "No one is talking about not caring about/caring about tonics"???
This post was a discussion about Flakes. The resource used for tonics.
"You HAVE to play it multiple times" no, no you don't. Unless of course, you wanted all tonics. If you don't care about tonics, you have to do at absolute most 3 runs.

Exotic missions have been like that forever: whisper catalyst+ship needed 3 weekly runs, Outbreak needed I think 3? Legend completions, although the ship only needed 1 iirc. Presage was full rng for the gun but the story/triumphs needed full-on weekly runs, I think up to 5 or 7 whole weeks at the end of it. Vox Obscura only needed 1 run of each (normal/master) but I think the story ran weekly like with Presage. Seraph Station was 4 catalyst levels, but you could stack it into 1 run, and they have used this for all of the preceeding exoric missions besides Whetstone in Deep Dives. The catalyst and secrets can be fully stacked into a single run, and the story takes 2 additional runs.

So, at max, to get everything besides tonics, it takes 3 runs. What's the fix? They just give you everything after the first run?

Exotic missions have NOT been that way forever. Only since weapon crafting became a thing. Original Whisper/Outbreak (and others I can't remember) didn't have this sort of repetition.

Except they did? Whisper catalyst needed multiple runs, and Outbreak catalyst needed multiple runs. Been this way forever,

Ultimately it would have been nice if Bungie allowed these rare ingredients to be obtained multiple ways. Like say I want to run some strikes, maybe I earn a couple that way.

It sucks with the new model because normally we'd run this mission once a week for 4 weeks, but instead since everything is unlocked you end up running over and over again for the story, and then you have to run it over and over again for the ingredients.

It's just poor design at the end of the day.

There are ingredients you get from strikes. Only the Tomb Flakes and Reflective flakes actually require specific activities.

I got all the Reflective flakes needed to unlock all the tonics in 5 runs, 3 of which were prior to them buffing the drop rates. Even if they added them to strikes, it wouldn't make much a difference, because you can get nearly all the flakes you need from the quest alone.
