Haven't played in a while...
Is it worth getting back into or is it just not even worth it anymore...?
I also don't feel like buying however many expansions released since the start of that smokey headed black eyed dude...

It’s totally worth getting back into. There’s been numerous changes and improvements over the past months and years.

There’s also loads of fantastic new content further improvements planned for the very near future. Now is the perfect time to return to Destiny 2.

If you want to read up on all the changes, see Bungie’s official news.

Its worth coming back to if only to go through the campaigns and story arcs but once you finish the main campaign its the same ol boring thing. Spam vanguard, knock out your weekly rewards and then grind random loot.

They added some things back in which were good, like sunsetting got sunset everything is full game now, but crafting has now become so far and away better that it has pretty much invalidated random drops.

There is a reason why the player count is lower then ever at this point.

If you dont wanna come back for that i HIGHLY suggest you do NOT buy the expansions from steam, there are a lot of Key sites that can sell you it FAR cheaper. For example i got Light fall for like 3 bucks and can get Final shape for 22 bucks.

Welcome back! Yes, it's worth it.

Why not? If you already own some DLCs you won't have to buy a ton of new ones just to play stuff, so might as well dip your toes back in.
yes still a Fun game

i will be waiting with the corresponding sword and u will walk right in front of me GL and RL :)
Alright I've read plenty of what you guys were saying and played the free intro basically to The Final Shape. I gotta say it looks and feels good enough to get it. We'll see how it goes I'm not sure why people are saying bad things about it. It might just be super sweats crying not sure

It's a great campaign with a ton of quests for after. Prismatic is also really cool. Have fun!
Go on to trusted reseller sites for expansion keys. other than that yeah even as a solo player Im still entertained with my weekly solo GM runs and Prismatic is wicked fun for build crafting

lol no the game is not worth playing anymore, if you like pve their are countless games that do the loot grind chase WAY better , pvp is objectively awful in destiny, and well gambit is a dead playlist. you've already mentioned that you don't want to pay for the dlc's so why even bother playing... the half baked seasonal stories that never see completion from bungie? i have over 3500 hours in destiny and i can confidentially say the game is a shadow of its self
dont buy expansions on full price

This is kinda the unfortunate reality of the situation.

If you can pick up the DLCs for a discount from a key seller site, its worth doing the DLCs if you are really jonesing for action. You can at least grind out and get to hard cap which does not take a terribly long time, 2000, and then you can go and do the new dungeons if you really want and then congrats you really dont have any reason to play. The seasons are super half baked, sorry, episodes. The activities are really boring its the same ol same ol, do these bounties, then do this wave activity tahts about it.

Never gets old when there's a paragraph of text about how bad a game is followed by "I have 3500 hours". It's objectively bad, but you spent years playing?

Can you not conceptualize the reality that hte game was good at one point but has only gotten worse and worse over time?

If some one would have asked me how this game was when forsaken came out? Hell yeah great game. Shadowkeep? Nah sit it out, Witchqueen? Hell yeah its back!
If anything having high number of hours is indicative of an even better informed opinion because its means that some one really enjoyed the game to play 3500 hours of it but we are not at the point of bro its not worth it.

The other issues is, this is always a argument that never has a number that people are satisfied with. I only have like i think 1200 or 1600 hours, so is that to many hours to have my opinion be its not good? what if i Had 2 hours? Is that to little? There is never a point where people are satisfied with how ever many hours someone has.

No, that doesn't make sense. How was the game good when Forsaken came out, yet when Shadowkeep came out, and added more things to the game, did it get worse? Content aside, the game has seen so many QoL improvements that Forsaken is comparatively very weak if you looked at it against modern D2. Loadouts, 3.0 subclasses, crafting, in-game LFG, crossplay, transmog, guardian ranks, ghost mods and armor focusing, and the list goes on. I honestly wish that there was a D2 retro mode so people could realize just how few features it used to have.

Just because things got added does not mean its good.
Seasons just add more of the same thing but with a differnt skin and no real interesting aspects to it.

Lightfall for example, added a whole lot more, and most of it was not good at all. There is your example.

The game has had many QOL improvements which im not knocking at all, those are great. Loadouts, more subclasses, vault access from orbit, just simple things right? GREAT!

However, at the end of the day, nothing has really changed, Your still running strikes, your still gambling for loot, gambit is still dead, crucible is still full of cheaters. Outside of the PvE story content, which again, Final shape is pretty good, there just kinda nothing going on.
Player count being in the absolute gutter kinda proves this.

New features and QOL improvements are neat, but a good game they do not make. We have new subclasses but when your still doing the same things its not very interesting.
