Vaulted content?

So can someone explain something to me?

Whether it's a bungie developer or just a long-time Destiny player.

How come in Destiny 2, I am unable to play the main storyline and several of its expansions? Why has Bungie removed these out of the game?

From what I understand, after researching it online, Bungie removed this content to prioritize bug fixing and tweaking the newer content that players were experiencing at that moment. Therefore, they vaulted the old content, and they said they would bring it back with small updates and tweaks to it to make it a better experience. Well, it's been several years since and at least half of the game has been vaulted, and there's no word from Bungie on when this content will return. It's actually so embarrassing that some of the content has been playable in the game for a shorter period of time compared to how long it's been vaulted and unplayable for the community.

Personally, to me, as someone who has experience with MMOs, I don't really understand why Bungie had to do this. Especially Since other MMO's like the Elder Scrolls online, which have been around for a decade at this point, still have their main storyline and all of the expansion storylines, dungeons, raides and new zones that are all available to play right now. The same goes for World of Warcraft, which has been around for 18 years. And there is a feature in that game called Chromie time. This allows players to go back and experience and play through all of the past expansions. And they even have classic servers, so players can experience those storylines as they were when they released. Heck, even Bungie's Destiny 1 has a bundle on PlayStation, which I recently purchased because I am interested in the story. This bundle for Destiny 1 includes the main storyline and all of the expansions. So how is it that Bungie for Destiny 2 has completely stripped away at least 60% of the actual content in the game and has still yet to bring it back to the players?

It really makes me not want to play Destiny 2 because there's no way for someone like myself who cares about the story, world, and the characters to understand what's going on at all unless I want to sit in front of a 5 hour YouTube video of someone explaining the entire story and lore of Destiny up until this point.

I would much rather play the game and grow attachment to the world and the characters. But as it stands now, with Bungie removing at least 60% of the content in the game, there is no way for newer players to care at all on what's going on.

Does a Bungie understand why the player numbers are dwindling and why new players dont want to play the game? It's very hard for newer people to come into the Destiny universe and feel a sense of attachment, which is why most people stick around with video games for long periods of time when 60% of the game is missing.

This is like jumping into the third entry within The Lord of the Rings movies during the last 20 minutes and expecting someone to automatically be super invested into the plot, characters, and the world.

If any Bungie developer or upper management is reading this, please bring back the old content. There's literally no reason for it not to be in the game. Especially when other games like the Elder Scrolls online, World of Warcraft, and even your own Destiny 1 can still maintain all of their story content.
