Why is PvP in this game still this bad?

It's always been pretty bad with poor weapon balancing etc, but even after taking a 2 year break from the game, it's wild to me that they still allow low-skill metas in competitive and Trials. Isn't the whole point of a "competitive" gamemode to be about skill?

Because it is impossible to make a balance in 2 completely different modes, each with it's own gameplay and mechanics set in one game, and would be easier to abandon the least popular, especially with bungie's current resources

hand cannons are so incredibly busted atm in pvp its pretty rough if you arent using one lmao

what incentive does Bungie have to fix it when the playerbase continues to play it despite nonstop complaining? the playerbase has shown them that they don't need to change anything. just like every other terrible aspect of the game

you mean the playerbase that doesnt exist anymore and is the reason for massive layoffs at bungie last year and the rest of the employees actively working on a different game?
