How to join someones party?

My fiance and I are trying out the game but every time we invite each other we get an error we are not allowed to join that activity or something along those lines.

How can we team up and start doing the content?

There are a small amount of missions, usually related to seasonal story content (like, Season of Heresy's 'Espial' and 'Recce' missions) that can only ever be played once. That means if you've played it already, you can't join someone who has not. Could that be it?

I also believe some of the beginner 'New Light' missions must be played solo.

Is this happening with every mission or did you only try a few? What did you try to join up on?

We only finished the tutorial and tried to join up after, but i guess since you mentioned the new light quests, those are part of the tutorial even though the world openend to other players, we'll try to finish that and see what's what. Thanks!
