Question
I last played this game when the Forsaken DLC came out. I got the Foresaken Destiny 2 console version and ported my account to PC when it came out on Steam and I found out that my gear was gatekept behind a DLC paywall because I didn't buy the DLC -again- on PC Steam. Instead of binding my purchase to my account it bound it to the console's account that Destiny 2 was played on. Ever since then, I never played it ever again. Now when I look at Destiny it looks like a boring live service product that has no meaning anymore. What's the point of this game now? Why do you guys play it?

Game sales have always been platform specific. You can cross save between them, but that does not and never has let you play content on the platform you didn't buy it on. They all get a cut when you get a game on their platform, why should Steam let you use it on their platform free?

I play it because I am not an entitled spoiled brat, and I enjoy the game.

You two are extremely hostile for no reason, lol. It's laughable. All I asked was why people play it, what meaning is behind the game. It's been out for eight years with back to back DLC drops all claiming to be the last big one. Just doesn't seem like the story ends, or that there's any meaningful loot or equipment to obtain because it'll get cycled out a little while later.

Just trying to understand the play reason behind the game.
Not really a bad thing to ask, so I'd appreciate if you two didn't behave so childish.

Really, pointing out some facts is hostile?

Not a single expansion has claimed to be the last one, where did you get that idea?

The light vs dark story ended with Final Shape, not the game.

You did more than ask why we play, there is a thread about that and my answer was not like this one. Remember this?
" I found out that my gear was gatekept behind a DLC paywall because I didn't buy the DLC -again- on PC Steam. Instead of binding my purchase to my account it bound it to the console's account that Destiny 2 was played on."
That's a bit more than asking why we play. You failing to understand how gaming platforms work is a you problem, nothing wrong with not understanding that, IF you're willing to listen and learn and not play the victim.

Edit: BTW, if you have cross save, your gear is NOT behind a paywall, you can use the gear you got on the other platform, you just can't play the content.

Cuz the guy in front of your message was very hostile then you just basically said "Why do you care? It's fun" - so it just seemed like you were following that energy a bit.

I was looking for an actual response, similar to how you eventually responded here.
Question asked, answer given. I don't see any other reason people interact with threads. I'm not attacking your fun, I'm just curious. I am allowed to ask.

Because no alternatives have emerged in the industry so far:
-No one does raids and dungeons in shooters the way Bungie does.
-Stable and ongoing support for several consecutive years. If they promise you 4 seasons a year, they deliver on that.
-Shooting in the game is still very enjoyable, one of the best in the industry.

Bungie is one of the worst studios in the industry, I hate them with all my heart for removing content, over-monetizing the game, firing the last talented people from the studio and of course developing Marathon instead of Destiny 3. But when they decide to make something good, they come out with the best damn ♥♥♥♥ in the industry.

Fine, you can ask, people can respond. You set the tone with your OP, a lot of complaining ending with "Why do you guys play it?", that can be viewed as "hostile" though I give enough room to assume it's not meant that way. All I did was explain cross save because most of your post was complaining about that.

I think most of us play this game because we enjoy playing it, I also enjoy hanging with friends and family in game.

"Fine, you can ask, people can respond. " Yikes, fix your attitude man.
Just because you're behind a screen doesn't mean you're entitled to some kind of complex.

This isn't a "Me versus everyone" situation, so stop painting it that way. I asked a question and two people (yourself included) responded with hostility. I "set the tone"? What is this? A F*cking book? You understand the word perceive exists? Your words were perceived this way, it's not voice chat so I cannot hear how you are trying to convey something.

I asked a question, but I don't want a response from you. Your shower your replies in toxicity and then answer the question, turning a simple ask into something grossly negative and a mood killer. Go get some sunlight man, get a drink and say hi to someone. Be nice to a stranger. jesus.
Post history explains a lot.
You are hostile from begin with and now you cry that you get the same treatment? Thats insane.
After reading all the posts from this. It looks like you also started with hostile intent. Even if you didnt mean to do so.

Attacking someones love for a game usually resorts to "hostile intents mate. But thats alright. People love to keep playing this game cause its either enjoyable to just kill or grind. OR they have people to play with. Ive played since Destiny 1 Day 1. And I still come back to this game cause of the money Ive spent. And the time I put into it.
Just look at it as why do people play Rainbow SIx Siege still. Or Minecraft. At the end of the day its cause they enjoy it. This is just another game like those.

Also non of this is "Hostile" from me. I dont really mind if people hate on what I like to do. Cause at the end of the day. Its my decision and not theirs to judge what I play.
Hope yalls day is an enjoyable one!

My attitude is fine, I was not and still am not upset, I clearly explained my point of view and did not in any way attack or belittle. What I said there is just basic truth, you can post, others can respond, that is not confrontational or mean spirited. It looks to me like you're going out of your way to start a fight, I won't bite. I have no investment in you, so your approval is not required.
trukr is fine.
Wynters is not.
