Are there any checkpoints?
I was doing the Forsaken mission in the timeline director (the famous mission with Cayde-6) last night, and decided to go to bed. When I returned today, I had to replay the whole mission from scratch.

So, are there checkpoints in story/campaign missions? If so, how do I know when I have one so I can reload it?

Thx!

Guess I need to play more, because I don't even klnow what a rally flag is, haha! I definitely didn't have a rally flag in the Cayde-6 mission, so maybe that is because it's just a "memory" and not an actual story mission?

Just before a big boss battle, you often find a big white circle where you can plant a rally flag. Once planted, you then "rally to the flag" which refills all your powers so it instantly refills your grenades, class ability, super etc. It basically gets you ready for a big battle.

In my experience, story missions etc create a checkpoint that can be loaded later when you have the opportunity to put down a Rally Flag...generally it's before big boss battles etc.

I just quickly ran that mission...it has 2 Rally points: One is after you are in the control room with Cayde...once you have cleared the things, you leave the room, jump a gap, then enter a hallway with some enemies and the auto turrets. AFter that first bit, there's a kind of tunnel and you will see the rally point in the middle (the game adds a waypoint marker there so you know it's there). Second one is after you have dealt with that boss.

I did the mission a second time to the first rally point then exited to orbit...the game did not give an icon on the mission screen to indicate it had saved so you could enter from that point. My guess it's because the missions are so short.

I only saw the second circle, right before the "boss battle" indeed! But since the mission is like 5 minutes (20 minutes if you count all the (amazing) cutscenes haha) I see why a checkpoint might not work.. But now I at least now what to look out for :-D

Take care as this does not work by 100%.

In some missions (most probable due to bugs) these technics do not work so you have to start those missions from the beginning (one bugs example was the exo mission “Encore” in the first Echo Season.
… funny bug in end-fight: I was able to dance on the head of the end boss, so I restarted the mission and ohh wonder “start from scratch”…hrrrrr

Usually missions need to be done in one go.
