Witch Queen and Final Shape have the best story campaigns in the history of the series. But realistically speaking, if you're going to play destiny, you need to buy everything. If I were you, I'd download the game, it's free, and tried the free Beyond Light story campaign (starts on planet Europa). If you like it, just buy the Light and Darkness saga collection, it's on sale right now at a big discount and gives you access to pretty much all the content in the game (except for the 4 old dungeons, sold separately for silver).

Beyond Light gives you a new subclass
Lightfall gives you a new subclass.
IMO both of them are not great but if you're new to the game - they both will still be fun to play.
As Horn said above - the Witch Queen is incredible, this DLC was when I joined the game. Don't repeat my mistake and don't start with it, half of the characters in the story were unknown to me. After I replayed it later it was much better.
Final Shape is the latest DLC and it's just great. Also, both of the DLCs look incredibly well done. I would also try the free parts of the campaign to see if you're even hooked by the gameplay, story, characters etc and then decide if it's worth your time. IMO - it is great. I played around 400 hours immediately after I bought witch queen and it's one of the best experiences I've had in gaming

Don't buy directly from steam. Buy download codes from cd key sites. Keys for old content in live service games are dirt cheap. You can get the 2024 Legacy collection for 10 bucks. Individual expansions are 2 - 3 bucks each.
