If you WANT those rewards, then you need to do the requirements to get them just like any other item in the game.
Don't worry about Competitive or Trials if you're new. Find a set of weapons you enjoy using and a build you have fun playing, go in to Control or Iron Banner when it goes live, and just play to learn from your mistakes like any other PvP mode in any other game.
I punched my way up in to Diamond Elo before an Elo system was even added to the game officially just to know that I could, and ever since then I've just been running around with meme builds I think are funny. When I'm bored I just go invis spam Rat King or pull some ancient Red War gun with rolls you can't get anymore from my vault and use those. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around in control can be fun, you just have to get out of the mindset of not having fun unless you're winning.
I don't give a toss about the rewards or the mode.
Because everybody else is running around with god roll PvP weapons that simply just deal more damage and I have whatever random guns I've come across while playing. If both players abuse bullet magnetism but one of them has a pulse rifle that can kill in one burst and the other player has nothing close to that then no amount of bullet magnetism will help. If I had the same gear as them I would do fine. And when I am against players that aren't running hard meta god roll gear I do fine. The way Crucible is designed will always make it wildly unfair for the player who has less playtime. That isn't a competitive skill based game. That is a time intensive grind test masquerading as a competitive game. If I wanted to do that I would go play OSRS instead.
If you don't do all of the seasonal missions you don't get the bright dust which means that you can't get more cosmetics without forking over even more money for this wildly overpriced game. I only paid 45 bucks for everything and I still feel like that was too much. I'm not spending 10 dollars on a single emote when I could get it for free from just playing.
Never mind the fact that several decent weapons, like Redrix, are locked to ONLY dropping from Crucible and Trials. Which, in and of itself, is equally annoying but for different reasons.
Also if you want Redrix, just get BXR Battler. Same frame and just as good, no pvp required.
I won't lie and say Crucible is a perfect experience, but it's one of those things where the less you think about it and just dive in, the more enjoyable it becomes. Stop focusing on K/D. If you plan on running Trials for drops, try to find a group who is willing to help you and use team comms. Attempting it solo is a bad time.
So don't.
No, you do not need to have any weapon rewards from crucible/trials.
The seasonal challenges are completely optional ways to get xp and the occasional weapon roll, they're not important or essential in any way. You can skip the pvp ones, it's fine.
Bright dust isn't a big deal, most of the cosmetics for dust aren't very appealing and you'll have plenty of dust from just doing pve stuff.
The ONLY time I agree with your overall anger at crucible is when it comes to exotic catalysts that require pvp objectives.
the way bungie tries to incentivize people to get dunked on in PvP because they've never been able to make the mode engaging is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
but hey, it's only like half the game, if you're listening to the wails of those who can compartmentalize.
