The developers have been passionate about it over the years... but the higher ups bit more than they could chew which caused the layoffs... there's been bugs and issues too...
The new player experience might not be great. The sunsetting removed story stuff that you gotta look up on the net...
Is the game fun? Yes, especially the final shape dlc.
Is the game population nosediving because of how bad the recent season is? Yes.
The game does the absolute bare minimum to guide new players and the in-game explanation of things are really bare bone so you need to also watch a lot of guide/explanation videos on youtube. Unless you have THAT kind of free time, I wouldn't touch this game as it can be very time consuming to even get the tiniest grasp of the game.
They ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up with the story since the release of the game. With fewer players logging in, finding fireteams for group activity like raids and dungeons has become a struggle. Matchmacking queues are taking longer than ever, and even tools like the in-game fireteam finder and discord LFG servers aren't helping much. Many postt in LFG now demand "experienced players only", shutting out those who are new or unfamiliar with the content.
So no the amount of money that you need to spend is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. And the game is slowly dying never saw destiny 2 with 20k players, and takes a lot to find Any kind of LFG if you are without friends/clan, do a favor to yourself save your money and play warframe. Trust me is way better then this cashgrab ♥♥♥♥.
The Light & Darkness Collection is on sale for $52.48, it has everything the Legacy Collection (2024) has plus Final Shape + Annual Pass ( annual pass = dungeon key and all three episodes).
People say you won't understand the story, the important part is you know who to shoot. The story in this game, where at times has been OK, is secondary, a reason to shoot the things you shoot.
People say that the game doesn't explain things. New Light is what it is BECAUSE of the players complaining, it used to just dump you into the game, now it holds your hand to the point of press this, press that etc. At least now early on in it, you can opt out of it. New Light can be a bit of a slog, but it explains a lot about how to do things. I think they really tried, it does explain things, like everything, some like, some hate.
I think the game still offers a lot of content and is still enjoyable to play. I think you should install the game and play the free to play content a bit and decide for yourself.
THIS, is the kind of thing I was talking about, it's pure rubbish. The one above is pretty much the same.
The player count has nothing to do with a game being worth playing or not, the number you use is the count at that moment, there are 19K right now. That does not say how many people played the game in a day, only how many are at that moment. This could be down to people not playing as long and could be for many reasons, new games, spending time with family, or just not that interested in the current chapter.
People really need to stop taking one bit of information and making it more than it is. You should play or not play a game based on PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, not what some random person on the internet says. A group of people not liking something does not mean I won't.
For a new player, all the content we did like is still there, even on that, some liked things others did not.
No! It's not worth it.
Not only have they removed a lot of the content once featured in those packs. What's left of it? Half of it is locked behind dungeon keys. That's right! The content you already paid for? Is locked behind predatory microtransaction ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Bring out your wallets!
It's worth it for the core gameplay. i.e., gunplay, movement, open world roaming and activities. That's why i came back this week.
The story? I couldn't care less. Especially now given how incredibly disjointed and convoluted it is.
I am currently on the Moon, doing the tedious Shadowkeep "story campaign" for Eris. Suffice it to say. I am already exhausted by the constant back and forth of repetitive fetch quests. Just going through the cumbersome user interface of this game makes tracking quests a miserable and infuriating affair. It's been nearly 5 years since the last time i played this but they didn't bother to streamline any of this ♥♥♥♥.
Some of the quest are completely bugged and can't be even completed.
If player count is how you decide to play or not play, that's on you.
The numbers you use are ONLY Steam, not Epic, PlayStation or XBox.
This is the season where people don't play as long, you know that thing that many do, spend time with family?
I played Borderlands 2 for years while it's player count was 6K. If we assume that all platforms have the same count (unlikely), that would be around 80K.
This is not an experience; it's a statement with no evidence. "No, its not. The game is dying with 11k active daily on steam alone."
As I stated above, the number is not daily, it's the number of that moment, it does not say how many people played for the day, so far the peak for today is 19,396 concurrent players.
player numbers are around 19k on steam and they are dropping
player numbers on xbox around 21k
player numbers on playstation around 24k
player numbers on epic is less than 1k
Ive been playing vermintide 2 since 2018 with players numbers being around 1.2k for YEARS. Player numbers mean nothing to me if i find a game enjoyable or not.
I find it amusing how you are saying that the new player experience is anything but doo doo hotdog water. That has nothing to do with player numbers in itself but it will affect player numbers. It will affect bungies reputation and it is. This discussion is about if its worth it for a new player to buy the new DLC. It is absolutely not worth it. Stop trying to convince people that what they experienced playing the game is somehow wrong or invalid. I started with 3 friends in august and both quit within a week. I was the only one with enough patience to learn the game and sink 1.2k hours into it. LIKE I SAID BEFORE the game has enough content for a month or 2 but after that it is COMPLETELY dry.
Saying "Half" is locked is kind of crazy. It's 2 dungeons per. That's not even close to half, they are activities you can do the DLC without.
Dying is actually when they stop updating a game. Which is not happening until at least 2026
