I really don't understand The Immortal
Apart from "Git gud" and "you have thousand hours in Destiny and still trash" I would be happy if someone helps me understand this smg.

When I am faced against it I got melted by enemies I almost killed. TTK is faster than Arrivals auto meta. When I use it it is literally rubber bullets, despite 2/3 of my bullets hit heads. Do I actually need the Adept version, so I can find some carries, or something. What I am missing. The most rolls I got from engrams are kill klip, rangefinder and ricochet rounds. Is there something I am missing?

It kills in 9 shots in 0.67 seconds against Tier 7 or lower resilience, and 10 shots in 0.75 seconds against 8 or higher. Some people have the perk Target lock in the second column. This increases damage as you land shots, and ramps up very quickly. Its main effect is making the ttk more forgiving (needing less headshots vs bodyshots to kill in the same number of shots), however if one aims perfectly and doesn't miss a single shot, it can reduce the number of shots to kill by 1, and hence leads to a 0.6s ttk. The adept version only adds 2 to non-masterworked stats and allows the slotting of adept mods which add +10 to a given stat. Most people go for range and stability, so an adept version will have maybe 1m more range and feel a little bit more smooth to fire.

Also, 2/3 headshot ratio isn't enough to hit optimal ttk. If you want to hit the 0.67s ttk in 9 rounds against T7 to T3 resilience guardians, you will need to hit all headshots without target lock. Against T9 and T10 guardians, you will need 8 heads and 2 bodies for the 0.75s ttk

Well, thanks for the math, but from all the engrams I popped not a single had Target Lock. I did not realize that this perk is such game changer.

It used to be a lot more powerful as it didn't deactivate on a miss, but now it only affects perfect accuracy. It's definitely an S++ tier perk, but it can only decrease the number of shots to kill by 1, when someone is firing perfect accuracy, i.e you're getting melted anyway. I certainly know the feeling of my SMGs shooting paintballs, but it takes some getting used to SMGs in general. It takes a bit of practice to learn how to beam people down with an SMG playstyle when you're used to the more standoffish play of a HC, but its definitely worth learning in this SMG meta. Also note that your KC roll is still a best in class weapon, and 9/10 duels with other immortal users will come down to skill, not your weapon

You should not be popping the engram but be focusing it with Saint-14

I think the target lock perk is what made it popular and to get it you need to focus with Saint. It'll get nerfed soon anyway but it will still be useful in PVE for popping tangles for suspend
