I Feel Like I Missed Out....
I just started Destiny 2 about a month ago. Even tho I even bought Destiny 2 and all the dlc waaay back when Warmind was playable and whatever the others were. I forget. Lol. Pre-Beyond Light i believe.
But i feel like I missed out on the Kabal being introduced and just all the story leading up to whats going on right now. I wish I could still play thru all of those older dlc's and stories.
I wish Bungie would make it to where you can play thru the main story of all the older dlc's. Cuz I even missed out on Forsaken! That dlc I bought but now i dont get the story.... I bought all the older dlc on ps4 thinking "I'll play it when i get to it. The dlc aint going anywhere" Well, it did. Now I cant play those.
There's a bit of anger with this. I bought the dlc but i cant play it.... Its archived.... I didnt know it would all go away. Sure, i bought it but didnt play til now. But thats because it was on sale back then. Then stuff happens and I forgot.
So there is a lot in this game I dont get because it happened before I played. Kind of cheapens the experiment for me. A person who loves knowing the full story. Lol. The game is still fun but I just feel like I missed out on a lot of good stuff and good stuff I paid for long ago....

FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out), a key component to keep players playing. If you don't keep grinding year after year, this will eventually happen to you in one form or another. It won't change in this game or in any other game. So try and enjoy the game for what it is. I'm sure someone will also link the reason to why this happened.

Up until a couple of weeks ago I've never touched Destiny. A friend of mine was bugging me for over 2 weeks to play with him so eventually I caved in and bought EVERYTHING that looked like DLC and so we started. First mission after the introductory one I am in a dream city and a certain character talk to me and "another person" in a portal and I'm like: "what? Who are you? Who is this? Why should I care about you...." aaaaaaaand then I went down the rabbit hole.
Turns out First 2 DLC of Destiny 2 were completely CUT out of the game (and don't get me started on the whole season thing....)
So since I am a lore guy as you are and in order to catch up with the lore I had to first watch a 11 hour lets play of Destiny 1.
Then another 11 hours of a lets play of Destiny 2 up until the Forsaken DLC.
THEN another 2 and a half hours of a video which summorizes the whole story of destiny 2 and let me tell you... it was heavily summorized.
So you either do as I did in order to know what the actual ef is going on or you just try to enjoy the game for what it is.

Well. I guess any online game like this would be like that. Deleting older stuff for the newer stuff. Its just annoying sometimes. Especially since I bought all the original older dlc on playstation damnit! XD But, its still a great game. Just hate it when games almost seemingly punish newer players for not being with the game since Day 1. It is what is thooooo.

I will for sure have to watch some sort of lore catch up video for the game. Cuz I know in one of the DLC, the Cabal were introduced and their leader. I wish i could still experience that....
Like I said! Why cant Bungie just make all the older dlc available to play but just the main story of them all? That would be soooo cool! But, it is what it is maaan.

Also, I think all that content is in the vault and still playable. I plan to play from shadowkeep to current content.

Red War, Osiris and Forsaken are not in the game any more so that took the guy I was watching 11 hours to finish.

There is a video on Youtube by Evaze that explains the entire Destiny story from pre D1 up to Witch Queen, and it's only 2hr 20 min... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqvdSsdYLgw

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Which is why when I quit, I tend to never return to a game. I did return to Destiny though. Twice! :steamhappy:

I started a new character after having not played for a year or so. There is zero sense of progression now that the campaign has been gutted. I know why I'm doing certain things because I played prior, but if this was your first time playing the game, you're just getting thrown into one thing or another. The narrative is almost entirely incoherent at this point.

It's a shame because by the end of the game, I felt like I'd earned my place among the pantheon of guardians. Now? I don't know who my guy is or why he's even around. I'm just doing things to do them, and being told I'm great. It's terrible.
