Please let us apply Legendary appearances/ornaments to Exotic armor pieces
See title.

I hate being locked out of all the cool helmets in the game because I have to wear this stupid-looking Exotic helmet for its effects.

It is really odd that we can't just apply a Legendary appearance to an Exotic. If I'm fine with downgrading my looks a tier I should be able to just do that.

It's part of their core monetisation model to sell mtx cosmetics for exotics.

Same reason why you cant apply a shader to an exotic weapon. They have their own, seperate cosmetic systems .

I am pretty sure people would still buy Exotic ornaments regardless, because people who buy those are people who care about how their Exotic armor looks. I don't. I just want to match-set with my Legendaries.

If only they'd actually make Ornaments for Exotics.

Look at eg. Ashen Wake, 0 Ornaments. Meanwhile some other is probably about to receive their 7th one.

Exotic weapons are arbitrarily restricted, they don't have a different system. Idk if you can still do that, but back in the day a full shader preview on your gear changed kinetic exotics colours to the shader without issue, even though you still couldn't properly apply it since it was a preview only. They just want to incentivize ornaments on weapons.

But when it comes to armour, disguising your exotics as legendary ornaments provides you with an actual tactical advantage in PvP since people won't know what you're running so I for one am glad you can't use legendary ornaments on those. It should be obvious what armour exotics you've got going at first glance.

You wouldn´t have made this thread, if you wouldn´t care.

i agree with this mostly and i think adding the ability to apply legendary ornaments to exotic armor would be a terrible idea, but some exotic armor ornaments completely change the look and if you weren't familiar with that ornament, you'd still not know what they were using without inspecting them.

look at the new ornament for ophidian aspect. its very similar to an ornament for necrotic grip and at a glance i wouldn't have any idea which they were using strictly by appearance since they look so similar.

i do think we should at least be able to apply shaders to exotic weapons.

I have a grandson who plays, at a glance he can tell you what weapon is in use and what exotic armor is in use, I can only identify some. The more ornaments you add, the more there is to keep up with. So one exotic resembles another, that's not like an exotic looking exactly like some legendary. Shaders on the exotic weapons, I think would be nice, but I might be wrong on that.

They won't do it for PvP reasons.

Frankly, I'd love it if they separated out PvP and PvE on this one. I hate breaking up the look of a set, and would prefer to just transmog my exotic armor to look like the rest of what I'm wearing.

Being able to hide your exotic by potentially using ornaments that you bought from the store can be considered 'p2w'.

Exotics got their own stuff anyway.
You can tell at a glance what kind of weird superpowers they have by looking at their gear. Warlock with Crown of Tempests? They're going to do a 4 minute tickle finger super. Hunter with Stompees? They're a bad person.

If people can hide their exotic armour they can hide what their super power is in PVP and that would make PVP even more of a faeces display.

I like my flaming lorelei ears.

Too bad you cant skintransfer exotic to exotic, flaming hunter ears would be nice.

I understand OP, but if Bungie made this system work, people would use the Silver Shop even less and less, because there are tons of good looking legendaries, and most look better than any exotic skin could ever look. It would be eververse suicide if they decided to make exotics switchable with legendary skins.

"let us apply Legendary appearances/ornaments to Exotic armor pieces"

While I wanted the same before, I realized that this would not be ideal and would hurt the aesthetic of the exotic.

How about you do this, (it is what I do)
Design around the exotic instead of without it.
