If the stats are good, sure. You can always infuse it up to your current power level too.

I get the feeling he didn't know what infusion was and you just blew his mind.

Infuse Armor?? Never knew that.

I don't really like the stats on my Helmet, but using it cause it makes my Warlock Grenades and Ability cool down at 50% speed

All equipment with a power level can be infused. Inspect the armor you want to keep, one of the buttons/dropdown menus will be to infuse it. In that dropdown, you choose a piece of equipment of a higher power level; that piece of deleted, and the item you are infusing becomes its power level, at the cost of an Upgrade Module (purchasable from Banshee in the Tower).

For your situation for example, right click your 1534 helmet to inspect it, and hover over the infuse option to show your other helmets. Hold F (or whatever button it shows) on a 1569 helmet, and if you have an Upgrade Module, the 1569 helmet will be deleted and your original 1534 helmet will now be 1569 instead. Weapons work the same way. That way you can always use the equipment you want as you level up. Since it costs an upgrade module every time, you don't want to be infusing constantly until you are near power level cap.

i may add, if you infuse the weapon/armor with the same weapon/armor it just cost 1000 glimmer

Yeah ... it's really all about the stat points on the individual piece. If it's got high stats (especially in stats you personally want) then yeah, infuse it and save it.

Especially if you masterworked it. (Although masterworking an exotic is on the expensive side).

Doesn't have the stats I want, but it helps my Grenade Cooldowns a lot.

It's the Eye of Another World. No idea how it works anyway other than I know it reduces my Cooldowns

Do you use DIM? There should be Community Perk Insights in settings that will tell you what perks do, exact numbers etc. It takes a while for new perks to be tested, but it's better than default descriptions

If its the only exotic you have there is really no downside to using it, just infuse a helm you dont want if it has a higher power level and rock it till you find something else that catches your eye.

As others have said stats on gear are the things to watch but mods can always balance that out and if you are new my advice is don't get too deep down that rabbit hole quite yet as really crunching stats is a late/end game thing. For now just have fun with whatever you get and THEN watch the stats.

Last bit of advice is keep a backup helm on hand just in case you get a different piece of exotic gear you want to use (you can only wear one exotic armor at a time)

Generally speaking, for armor (even Exotics) you're looking for stuff that has over 60 native stat points.

It's the Light Level that you infuse, the stats do not change.

Here's a quick video that shows the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9PaOJ5hCUs

They're showing a weapon, but the process is functionally the same for armor.

Note also that if you increase the power slots (or whatever they're called) up to 10 and "Masterwork" the armor, then the stats DO change, you get a +2 to every stat (if I'm recalling that correctly).

Yep. I still have the Sunbracers I got as a reward during the Red War campaign.
