I'll agree that the pvp is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tier, but it's really not that bad. A lot of it is movement and aim. Occasionally a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the sticks gets an aim assist headshot with a sniper but that's about the only issue. The only time grinding really matters is Trials because light advantage is enabled.
If you are a completionist or want some of the rarer (better?) gear and weapons you will have to do pvp and join raids with a group (no matchmaking) for endgame content.
I wouldn't avoid PvP entirely. Doing the dailies at least is a good way to get some resources and such and the weapons from PvP aren't bad. The biggest tip? Just don't take it seriously. The game's PvP more or less autoplays itself based on the weapon you're using, so just aim and fire, the bullets do the rest.
