Why am I constantly getting matched against people who have gone flawless?
There's nothing more discouraging to see an entire 3 stack who live, breathe, and ♥♥♥♥ this game all of them wearing glowing trials armor. Why can't they be matched against people who HAVE gone flawless not someone who's struggling to get out of 4 wins because of constant steamrolling.

because skill based matchmaking (sbmm) is difficult to code, and bungie isn't known for being good at coding things well the first time.
WindBlade Sep 17, 2021 @ 8:31pm
Because its coded badly.
trukr Sep 17, 2021 @ 9:09pm
Maybe because.
Streamers: WAAAAAA! Matchmaking takes too long because there aren't enough people at our skill level.

Bungie: Hold my Latte.

So end game PVP, according to you, is going against 3 stack sweat squads with full comms, ensuring players who are missing one person or even a specific weapon with specific rolls have 0 chance at winning? Understood, you should work at Bungie.

Much like end-game PvE in most MMOs, where if you don't have a full group with meta gear you have virtually no chance of clearing the boss. Trials is a mess but Kethriss is 100% correct in their statement.

To summarize, end-game PvP is where you go when you've acquired the best equipment the game has to offer and have a group of coordinated teammates. In other words, something you do at the end of the game.

This is coming from a low level player who currently gets solo-stomped nonstop in Trials, but a lot of it is my own fault for coming in under-geared. I suck it up, take the pain, and grab my pinnacles for the week then bounce. One day this will be less arduous, but until then if I want them I know what I'm getting into.

Except that SBMM still exists in ranked playlists, Trials has an even harsher skill bracket system than SBMM, and the only modes where CBMM is implemented are casual modes.

Like I legit don't this. Y'all say this stuff with such absolute confidence and yet to anybody that actually pays even the slightest bit of attention you just look like you have a tinfoil hat on shaking your fist at Bungie who you think is some mustache-twirling supervillain.

Yes, this is exactly why people complain about being matched up with ringers, got it. As I recall, it was Trials that the streamers were complaining about. If skill based match making was so good, you wouldn't see this happening. The streamers WERE complaining, and they are like the advertising department. They did not like to be streaming while just waiting, worrying their audience would leave out of boredom.

It's not about tin foil hats and villains.

Yes, you are literally complaining about going in to End Game PvP designed explicitly for those "3 stack sweat squads" before you're even remotely ready and losing.

Trials is not meant to be played by people who can barely keep their heads above water in Control. It is meant for people who actually want to try their hand at seeing how far their skill takes them.

You also have this cartoonish idea in your head of those "3 stack sweat squads" when it's almost always just a few friends chatting ♥♥♥♥ and having fun laughing in a VC whether they win or lose, enjoying the weekend playing together after a week of work. People play Trials and go flawless to relax, and you're making threads complaining that you're losing in an End Game activity before you're ready for End Game.

This, I agree with. I have been matched with those I knew I had no chance with. I don't get upset about it though. I think people with my skill are rare in that mode, so it's hard to match me up with someone on my level. I ONLY go in with prebuilt team, a stack of almost noobs, but we are voice chatting and laughing or sometimes just jumping off the map and laughing. "hey hey, here I am, whoops bye". It's a game, we try not to get upset, it should be fun or we should go do something that is.

Imaging people saying this game has endgame " pvp " when it runs on Peer to Peer network.

What has that got to do with anything?

Except anyone actually played the game more than 3 seasons know sbmm was replaced by cbmm with the only exception being iron banner and trials

well it kinda does matter, what you see on your screen and what the enemy sees are two different things and can lead to kills that feel 100% ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

You are probably from US where you get matched with only people from US ,
Try being in EU or Asia and get matched with chinese players like i do all the time.
where they take no damage from skills or bullets shot by you.
Glorious.

Now THAT. That is cartoonish. I have barely seen this "almost always" group of players that play PVP to relax. That can be applied to the other many games I've played that are mostly or all PVP. Obviously there are some like that but it's not "almost always" like that. And yes while this thread (not threads) is complaining, it also points out how flawed trials is. Yes it's better than it was but it's not perfect. But I guess you are the kind of person who finds being pretty much gatekept from flawless players fun or the other way around.

If you're having that happen, someone is lagging pretty bad, maybe intentionally.

Well, one need only look at my profile to see that.
Even if they had dedicated servers, you wouldn't be matched with us in the US and likely be matched with the same people as you are now.
