Have you had other problems writing data on that disk ?
I had weird problems trying to install GUild Wars 2 once and it was because my HDD was basically on its deathbed. Check the SMART data of it just in case.
Hi there!

Are you running AVG antivirus?

Try setting an exception for destiny2 and making sure your virus definitions and software is up to date.

Yo, I'm getting the same thing but not running avg

I had to restart four times and verify files twice. I have the disc space... I thought that might be the problem, but after downloading the update, four times now, I had it playing between downloads. Pretty sure someone ♥♥♥♥♥♥ something up with the new update. More than an avg, virus, firewall thing.

Yes, I turned it off and on again. IT bro

Looks like it's something to do with an anti-virus detecting destiny2.exe as a virus, deleting the file, and then preventing Steam from reinstalling it when you try to run the game.

See if the Destiny listing in your Steam library is stuck trying to update and getting a diskwrite error when it does. If so, disable your anti-virus programs altogether and try updating. If it's able to finish updating as soon as you do that, you can try adding the whole destiny 2 folder under exceptions.

having the same issue. Tried turning off antivirus & also making an exception for D2 in anti virus but still no luck.

I did temporarily fix it by trying to 'verify file integrity' and then going to 'Steam\steamapps\downloading' and deleting all the files in there and re-downloading them again. But that only seemed to fix the issue for about an hour.
i have the same problem that destiny2.exe gets deleted somehow and i have avg anti virus installed

after verifying game files destiny 2 starts updating but after finishing it goes into an infinite loop and never finishes (fully loaded but pressing resume does nothing)

havent tried reinstalling yet

I started having this same problem today too. I even went and uninstalled steam and all games and downloaded everything again to see if that was the problem, it still does it.

Tbh I don't know how to set destiny 2 as an exception in AVG but it also doesn't seem like the problem.

I really hope someone knows how to fix this, I'm out of ideas.

you can set it as an exception from menu (top right) > settings > general > exceptions >add exception and then copy the folder path to destiny 2
