or better, herd of scared meth fueled cats
Because BOTH PROBLEMS ARE FIXABLE:
1) Bungie could fix Nightfall matchmaking so you aren't allowed in without champ mods.
2) Bungie could give options Raid matchmaking to exclude other platforms.
The point is that the LFG we have, is essentialy matchmaking, just a terrible version. You go on discord with people you never played before, know nothing about, manually have to check their stats etc...
Just let me search players in-game, enter a lobby, check their stats with a click on their name, fireteam leader can kick ppl who don't comply/respond... it could be so much easier.
Payday2 does this, Killing Floor 2 does this... you check out players before you play with them. Every game can do it, but nooooo, Destiny 2 has to go the Stone Age way.
When ppl ask for "Matchmaking", they just want the LFG process streamlined, in-game.
They seem to think that every perspective player should go and learn every armour and weapon interaction, with every possible mod combination and run only what the sweaty YouTubers run.
They also don't seem to understand that you DO NOT NEED Anti-Barrier because you can kill them with a single rocket normally!
So what you're suggesting is that people should just blindly run in like a headless chicken, into a mode that requires you to bring something to deal with something in order to progress?
Ok.
Nope but they could quite easily since Text Chat works on Console, have put a message in to ask one of them to put the mod's on.
The problem is people seem to think Console players are stupid or lazy, I know a few who are neither but honestly hate playing with PC players because of the attitude the OP has.
It's not difficult to send a message, but it seems it's easier to rant on Steam where the Console players are not really going to see it!
Ah okay, fair enough.
Not even close to what would happen lol.
People can't even properly do the Corrupted Strike mechanics.
A STRIKE mechanic.
Enough said.
Also, this is the same sort of complaint people used to pull out when arguing against adding matchmaking to Nightfalls back in the day. Some version of "my team sucked, therefore all teams will suck, so no matchmaking for anyone". Besides, I've always figured that if someone consistently find himself on terrible teams maybe the problem isn't everyone else.
I think you are the one who entirely missed the point. I really don't see what you think 2 would solve. More importantly, at the point you have to implement 1, you have already proven his point. If a player isn't smart enough to put on even a single mod for an activity, why would they be smart enough to make a decent build, play as a team, do the mechanics, and so on.
As for the rest of your post, matchmaking =/= LFG. They have the same goal, but different expectations and experiences. I fully support LFG in game, Bungie already has an official LFG, all they have to do is make it accessible without needing a separate browser. Matchmaking though would very rarely be effective. The main problem is your examples don't need nearly as much communication as a Destiny raid does. For the most part you just do whatever your role is in other games, or you don't have to equip certain things to succeed. Quick, clear comms and proper equipment is required for many raid encounters, and that just isn't something you are going to get from randos. Even sending them messages like someone else snarkily suggested doesn't work; I've tried multiple times to explain something as simple as the Corrupted mechanics, and not once has a teammate responded. I don't even want to try explaining something like Rhulk.
Matchmade raids could succeed, but not nearly often enough to justify the development work and negative experiences that would spawn from it.
The fact that you think it wouldn't effect anyone in a negative way shows why you will never understand how dumb it is to want matchmaking for Raids.
Also I will gate keep if I want, nothing wrong with that concept at all.
