Aim for rolling armour with high discipline and recovery (put the Discipline ghost mod on and focus armour at the Crown in the helm, you'll get results) and use resilience mods to bring up your resilience to par.
For instance, my warlock pve build has 100 recovery 100 discipline and 60 resilience. I could raise it to 100 and that would require removing some fragments and some mods, but doing so would make my build much less lethal. Remember, your enemies can't hurt you when they're dead.
Mine is hovering at t8, I dont like giving up cooldowns for more, but maybe worth a try if you specifically struggle with some content. If you have t8 on your base gear, you can try to fill in a swap item that sets you t10, at the cost of cooldowns.
I carry swap gear now for gambit, and pvp, not a world of difference but just enough to improve the feel of the char.
