This is a myth. The human eye can react to visual signals in under 1ms which means you can see up to at least 1000fps. There is also an incredibly noticeable difference between playing at 60fps and 120fps.
The difference between 144hz and 240hz is noticeable. The difference between 60hz and 120hz is night and day, lol.
This is just so wrong. Don't sell the human eye short, it's a lot faster than you think. I was amazed at the difference when I moved from 60Hz to 144Hz display. I am on a 165Hz now.
It's been shown in blind test (the test subject had no indication of what display was 60Hz or 144Hz) that the human eye can for a fact see the difference.
Some GPUs ARE 1K and above.
There would still be a noticeable increase in smoothness beyond that, up to about 1000 FPS. Especially while turning quickly in videogames.
So to turn to the actual question, when the Xbox One X dropped it got Destiny 2 in 4K but no 60fps or “performance” mode. Bungie said the reason for this was because the aspects of the game like particle effects and physics weren’t being held back by the GPU in the One X, but the slow CPU. Right now on the Series X and PS5 there’s 120fps but only in Crucible, and it’s upscaled from 1440p.
With this game even on PC it’s more CPU than most other games because of the particle and lighting effects. That doesn’t mean your GPU doesn’t matter, but rather with this game more than most it’s a package deal.
