The newest dungeon should be farmable for the exotic
I have an issue with Bungie’s design of newest dungeons or raids being only farmable for the exotic until a new raid or dungeon knocks it into the rotator system. Especially when the exotic is needed for leveling up their Guardian Rank. I did the math and for Episode: Revenant and how many times you can attempt for Vesper’s Host to get Icebreaker. If you never got it through Contest Mode and this is assuming you have three characters, you only have about 51-54 chances (less now if you didn’t attempt with your 3 characters this past weekend when the dungeon dropped) to get an exotic that has a 5% chance to drop. With numbers that low, there are going to be people who don’t get the exotic until after the Episode ends and therefore could not progress their Guardian Rank for this Episode. Now of course, next Episode, they can try again with the Guardian Rank but to lock progress towards it based on gear that you have made limited in farming is counter intuitive. I am now concerned if they do this again with the dungeon exotic in Heresy.

Bungie should just make the newest dungeon and raids farmable, people are gonna be playing them a lot anyway and they allow the legendary gear to be farmed, I see no issue with making the exotic farmable as well.

It is only needed in this guardian rank and it is a known bug that is being fixed, and guardian ranks mean nothing anyway.
If you want the exotic so bad just do triumphs to get better drop rates.

Guardian Rank may not matter as far as getting you any special bonuses in game, it is a form of achievement that I would like to get to Guardian Rank 11 just for fun. It’s good they are fixing it though and that is fine.

Those triumphs to boost its drop chance doesn’t add much to the drop percentage (I haven’t found any hard data on the boost it gives but I would assume it isn’t much from other players and my own experience). I still do believe that the newest dungeons and raids that release should be farmable for all weapons and exotics. People want to play the new stuff when it is released and to limit the rewards they get to 3 times per week if you have 3 characters, I don’t think it is respectful of the players time or money. People bought the dungeon key to play it and get Icebreaker, not wait longer to just get it. And I think opening up the loot to be farmable just for the new dungeons and raids at least, even for a small amount of time like 2 weeks after release, would be more healthy for the game. Or rework triumphs to instead add a percentage increase, gives extra chances per week to have the exotic to drop.

I know I’m talking in a void, I highly doubt Bungie will change this since they have been doing it this way for so long.

Ehh the triumphs help but it still falls to rng my buddy had all the triumphs and it still took him I roughly 85 runs to get a buried bloodline drop. For me I had like 2 triumphs and got it in 10.
