Catalyst drops

I'm back after not playing for 3 years. Some of the exotic weapons I had have catalysts now. I've run over 20 playlist things (Normal Vanguard and Gambit) and no catalyst drops. I have one active one from before.

Do I need to do something extra to get these to start dropping for me? Maybe dismantle the guns and create new ones? Maybe run at least one of every playlist? Or, is the RNG just that bad?

Ya know what the real key is?
Posting about how bad the drop rate is.
After posting this, I ran one more Gambit and got one of the catalysts. lol
(No, I don't actually think that posting something like this has any effect on catalyst drops.)

You can do dozens of activities and not get one its attrocious. A fast way to get them though is to do a private crucible match solo do zone control set the point limit to the lowest available and just capture the zones its over in a few minutes and can give you catalysts.

Higher difficulty content should (insert doubt here) in theory result in higher odds of getting a catalyst.

After taking your advice, I got the Mida Mutli-tool catalyst after the very first private session. d-(^.^")

I then went through a couple hour period of nothing. Still, it's a good option when I'm doing other things too. :-D

On the following day, I set up 7 or 8 of these private crucible matches, and another two catalysts dropped during those. Yay!
