Alethonym exotic grenade launcher is The Mountaintop grenade launcher but why?

I have received this exotic catalyst and I'm putting to test and found most abnoxious weapon this year. It launch projectiles like missiles as The Mountaintop does and you can ''rocket jump'' along but the damage and aim are so weak. And why ironsight is complete off center. The only advantage it doesn't use special ammo. Cycling throw fire modes gets confusing after a long time to figure out what will create....I'm aware green sight stand for energy ammo but that is discreet.

Hold reload once = Special
Hold reload a second time = Heavy, if you have max Vestiges
It fires like mountaintop because its firing a giant icicle, wouldn't really make much sense for a normal grenade launcher frame to fire an icicle.
It also deals a damage over time as well as dealing Impact and Explosion Damage, so you want to stick an enemy with it to get the most possible damage.

I've noticed couple time doing minicrits if that what you meant with ''It also deals a damae over time...'' But it looks like I'm blowing bubble made of ice and not soap.

I'm willing to bet thats because you have a debuff called 'Weapon Damage Decay'...

Having a primary to rocket jump with is amazing, not to mention you can ammo farm off of immune bosses to gain fireteam full ammo in any raid encounter.

You know you can only make 1 bullet from heavy ammo so that ain't much special and the substantial amount you need to pull it back is a lot. Is a slow process.
