How is mindbender good? the stats don't say it is

I have a gun with farther range it's almost maxed out on my shotgun but theirs still out ranges me. I'm using retold tale so not sure if there's some secret stat that gun has I don't know about.

It's one of the most consistent shotguns in the game and with slideshot, it can kill at some ridiculous ranges.
Go for full choke, accurized rounds, slideshot, quickdraw and a range masterwork.

1. It has a consistent spread pattern, so less randomness where bullets hit.

2. It has a longer barrel. Yes, barrel length matters, and yes, ornaments affect it.

Mindbenders has been one of the best shotguns for a long time now.. Will get trumped when they fixed felwinters lie quest.

Shotguns are magnificently inconsistent, and weapon stats in this game can be bizarrely stunted at times.

FalloutPlays on YouTube has some great videos on shotguns, if you want a rundown on them.

Retold Tale is a great shotgun, but Mindbender's has been the king for over a year now. Of course, that's all going to change today or tomorrow when they fix the Felwinter's quest.

That thing is truly horrifying.

Yeah I love my Minder Bender. No shot gun can compete with its consitency. It only draw back is its slow reload. But that can even be countered with slide shot. After I unlocked it I have never ever not had it in my inventory if I'm not actively running it. Its damage is great, It looks awesome firing it is satisfying and it even has good range for a shotgun. Not even exotic shot guns can compete with it. If you really want to run a shot gun then its Mind Bender or bust.

You have to keep in mind that while your Retold Tale may have better range, it has less Impact because it is a different archetype of shotgun and chances are the pellet spread is not as consistent as Mindbenders.

Retold tale is inconsistent af nowadays, it's not even in the top 5 shotguns at the moment. mb however is very consistent in performance

I appreciate all the responses and not ripping on me, just confused cause my retold tale had good range and impact but when I shot someone at a shotgun distance it wouldn't kill them.

It's because the spread of retold tale is a bit more inconsistent than mindbenders. Still, retold tale absolutely slaps with the right rolls on it. To bad it's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard to get one let alone a decent roll.

I mean... You have 40 chances for a good roll/getting one by destroying all eggs. Ascendant challenges and story can also give a good one, same with throne

Lol I only now am starting realize How lucky I am with the role I got on my Mind Bender. I did the associated Nightfall only once (only night fall I ever did) and stumbled onto the Mind Bender. Not only that but My first one came with slideshot. I mean how lucky can you get.

The rng was gentle for you that day obviously :p call it beginners luck i guess. The rng can be real nasty at times ^_^

Barrel length will literally give you a couple of extra inches of one shot kill range, lol. Barrel length is a big meme, the difference is so negligible that it can be reasonably rounded to 0. It's more of a "did you know?" thing than a "you should take this into account" thing.
