Game STOPS RESPONDING before it gets to the Character select screen

Everything was working fine yesterday, I boot the game up today get past the main title page and as it gets to the character select screen it just keeps me on a blank screen with nothing moving in the back ground and only the music still playing.. when I check task manager I've got the msg STOPS RESPONDING next to D2... Anyone else had the same issue??
I've rebooted, I've verified my files and still I've got this problem.. Any help or tips would be great... Thank you..

Are you using an Nvidia GPUand have done a recent driver update? I experienced the same behavior immediately after updating to 516.40. I rolled back to 512.95 and the problem seems to have stopped for me. Everyone's system is different, so it may be a different issue for you. But might be worth checking.

Yeah, this happened to me too. Not every time, but after updating my graphics driver for my 3060 it started crashing there sometimes.

This seems to apply to me too. I have not rolled back (yet) because it seems to be an intermittent problem and I am just hoping it works itself out. Also...because I don't really know how to roll back and have no patience.

Yup. Finally had enough and went to rollback Geforce Drivers.
Instant fix and game is fine again.

also verify game content, i had a similar issue and this also seemed to help

did you go to Nvidia's website and look up your specific GPU in the drivers section? should have a list of multiple previous versions you can install.
