Not quite right, NAT type can be changed in your router settings. The exception being if you are on a restricted network such as a school.

I havent switched network providers in maybe 5 years and pretty much any other game I play that reflects my NAT says "NAT TYPE: OPEN" also I've played destiny on and off for over 5 years but this is only a recent issue. Im not sure if its actually affecting my matchmaking and social features but the fact that I'm randomly getting this sent, likely as a response to detecting some sort of air bubble in the pipeline on bungie's end, is a joke

making NAT type open is dangerous for any private user , any attacker can easily hijack ur pc ... thats why almost everyone uses ( moderate NAT ) .. and its being use by default for all modern ISPs i've seen so far ... only a few uses old practices like ( strict NAT ) ...

u will never have( open NAT ) by default , u have to do that either visiting ur router settings or contacting ur ISP
