what are hive worms based off of?

kind of a random question, but yesterday, I found a white larva or worm in my mother's pepper plant, it was just rolling around on the soil, but it looked somewhat similar to a hive worm in this game. my guess is it may have been a larva of some sort of moth, which would make sense, seeing how Savathun had a thing for moths, I got a good look at it, but we threw it into a bush before I thought to do an image search on google. it was equal parts cute and gross, and I would like to know what it may have been, based on what hive worms took inspiration from, if they did. the larva or worm was white all over, and had approximately 20-30 little legs, much like a centipede, but the legs were pointing directly underneath it's body, it seemed to have had 2 eyes, though it was extremely difficult to tell as it's eyes were the same shade as the rest of it, it was about a an inch and a half to 2 inches long, and it didn't seem to have any form of aggressive defense against predators, having no bristles, spikes and didn't act hastily in response to us getting it on a stick to throw behind the bushes.

if anyone here is either a biologist, a D2 lore nut, or better yet both of those things, I'd be delighted to hear from them!
