Confused, need a little help (spoiler)

I recently have come back to the game, been gone awhile. I completely missed the Lightfall stuff. To refamliarize myself with the game, I played through all the memory missions all the way up to the Final Shape which I needed to purchase. Before I did that I did what I assume is the intro to Final Shape where I went into the traveler and found Cayde-6 (what fun moment, I love Cayde). Then to proceed further, I had to puchase the Expansion. I logged out, purchased Lightfall, and logged back in expecting to continue the story. When I logged back in though, I was thrust into step 1 of 2 of Lightfall and also "Episode: Echoes Act I: A Familiar Voice, step 3 of 7. I never completed step 1 and 2 that I know of.

Anyways, what am I supposed to be doing? Should I go ahead and do Lightfall step 1 of 2? or Echoes Act I which was confusing because all the sudden I was helping Osiris. I'm a little lost.

If you want to experience Lightfall and then TFS (on the basis you haven't done it yet) then you will be experiencing the story in a chronological order. If you want the best story experience then I recommend doing Lightfall, The Final Shape and then the Episodes. This will give you the main plot points leading up to today in Destiny. While you would have missed the Lightfall seasons, you can catch up on their story on youtube.

Thanks for replies. I wonder why the Echoes had 2 steps already done? I haven't even touched that yet, unless they are somehow combined with the intro to Final Shape? That was also confusing.
