Can anyone justify it???
Come on. 73$ CAD (before taxes) original price for the final shape dlc. So about 85$ with tax.

This is a 7 year old game. I get that Prismatic makes builds better/easier and is just amazing for EVEN getting a good combo for raids/trials/comp but Jesus. The price is just ridiculous especially considering they have a battle pass and charge 20$ for a damn dungeon key.

I say this as a casual and someone who only bought dlc because they were like 5$ on sale to play with friends.

Makes it feel like a similar scam to MW2 part 2 (MW3)

Can anyone justify it ? Of course, plenty of people have. Even the extra for the Annual Pass.

You know how I know ? There's tons of folks running the content. Hence, they all justified it.

Bungie needs to make a certain amount of revenue off Final Shape or Sony eats the company. Bungie has said this MANY times.

I suppose. But I assume those have already sunk loads of time and money into the game already so it doesn’t feel like a lot since it’s just like “Eh, it’s just another dlc” which is what I do for DBD but atleast those are like 15 at full price. Atleast the annual makes it seem like a better deal but Jesus.

See it doesn’t make sense considering the game has a decent player base for a 7 year old game. It’d make more sense for Sony to force them to stop pushing content and make a new game. Idk maybe if it hits like 30$ id buy it but otherwise its a price of a whole game if not 2

for the price, I would hope its a full games worth.

We don't need to justify it to anyone but ourselves. What is worth it is fairly individual, if you don't see the value, that's fine. If you break it down for a year, and pay the most, it's like $8.33/month. There are games that have $15.00/month sub and still sell expansions, before you say it, if you go months without playing, you don't think it's all that great. There are those who don't feel this game has enough varied content to justify the cost, fair enough, this game may be a poor fit for those. In the end, we answer to ourselves on value (or parent, spouse etc), we aren't obligated to justify it to random people on the internet.
Will you play more than 100 hours of destiny if you play? Then i justify it at 1$ an hour for entertainment. After I hit that dollar per hour point I have gotten well more than my moneys worth from any game.

if you can justify paying for steam lvls....then anyone can justify d2s expansions...

May not be for you. Just don't buy it. Nobody is twisting your arm.

Go ahead and delete this now.

Yeah, the justification is it's a live service mmo, every other mmos sells a sub + expansions, D2 is actually cheaper because seasons last months instead of a sub, plus you can get all content minus the new expansion for like 30$

Noone tell blud people are still spending thousands on wow which is a 20+ yr old game lol

I bought the expansion + annual pass, 124.99 CAD, so 131.24 CAD with GST. I get a year of content, for the equivalent of slightly less than 11 CAD a month.

A 1 year subscription to WoW is 195.98 CAD (205.78 with GST), and then it's like 64.99 CAD (68.24 CAD w/ GST) for the new expansion coming out in August. So to play retail WoW, in the latest expansion, for one year, I have to pay 274.02 CAD. And that's the cheapest option, as annual sub is ~2.60 CAD cheaper per month than paying month by month.

So, if you want to know how some people justify it, it's pretty easy.

It's really no different to COD, FIFA, NBA etc that release new editions every year at full price...whether they are better value is debatable as, whilst they are new games, they often are the same with a few changes.

The way I look at it: I can buy the latest Marvel movie for £24.99 (I buy 4k discs) which is 2 hours long. Whilst I can watch it as often as I like, it has 2 hours of new content (I don't include extras as I don't often watch them all) and then it's old content when I watch again....so it's £12.50 an hour (or possibly £8 an hour of a normal Blu-Ray). TFS was £84 and the campaign playthrough took me probably around 25 hours total (I'm not great and had to redo a lot)...that alone would be around £3.30 an hour....add in the time spent in the Pale Heart etc and I am probably down to less than £0.50 an hour (and that will go lower as there is still a lot I haven't done yet).

In terms of price to hours played, it is excellent value for money. If the price was spread over the life of the DLC, it probably wouldn't seem so bad

I dont mean this in a rude way, but you paid for steam levels, you've gone through the effort of decking out the steam profile, you look chronically online mate, yes... yes its justifiable.

Steam levels are the pinnacle of a waste of money, I mean ♥♥♥♥ I've even thrown a couple hundred at it, if you can do that I'm sure you can find a way to spend 83CAD for hours of play.

OP, you're a drooler. You know how much it costs to make a game, right? What exactly do you expect the cost to be?

I've been here since start in 2017 on Battlenet when the game was not free. Ive paid full price for D2 and all the DLCs ever released, inluding the vaulted ones. That price is well over 400 bucks I'd say and I have over 2k hours on Steam and I had 4k hours on Battlenet so if you do the math on that I'd say it's worth it.

Considering the game used to cost money and they charge 20$ for a dungeon key and cosmetics. And they have a battle pass and MANY dlc. I have to say they probably are making more than what the game cost, only thing costing them is server cost/maintenance
