Does this game still have the Champion system with limited gun selection to counter them?
What killed Destiny 2 for me was the "you must use these 3 specific type of guns to be able to be of any use against these miniboss enemies for the next 3 months" system. I hated not being allowed to use the guns I found fun. Does the game still force you to pick specific guns like that?

Yeah they still use that system and yeah it still sucks, especially since people can only equip 2 of the 3 weapon types.

One of the most baffling game design decisions. This and Warframe suddenly deciding it was a mining/fishing game baffle the absolute ♥♥♥♥ out of me.
with the Overload Champions you dont need that type of weapon per se just stun lock them with a sword or
Despite not possessing the actual capability to stun the champion, Freeze and Suspend are capable of preventing Barrier Champions from activating their shield ability.
This subsequently makes Stasis the only subclass with a way to deal with all three Champion types

yeah, but anti-champion measures are built into your subclasses now. it's extremely easy to get your stuns off without changing your gameplay up too much. (though as a titan i refuse to play by the rules and instead brute force my way through all champion enemies with a shotgun and a rocket launcher)

also,

Or actually read tooltips and learn that you don't have to use artifact mods to stun champions.

I can basically stun all 3 with a Prismatic build with no specific gun.

Use weapons with intrinsic anti champ?
I love champion system for making a lot of guns that I would not usually gonna use needed. The anti-champion mods also are now built in some perks and subclass abilities

its a lot easier to counter champions now a days

they made it so certain class buffs/debuffs can counter certain champions

like making yourself radiant will make you have anti-barrier rounds, or slowing an overload champion with a stasis ability will stun them

well now that we are more broken ive had more fun with the system. with hunter dodge being able to slow/stun overload champions, without needing a weapon slot, it opens up more wiggle room.

As a Warlock I refuse to use Stasis because I cannot heal myself or team mates with Rift. I wish they'd just update Stasis and Strand to be on-par with the base-game sub-classes in terms of number of abilities and supers to choose from all-ready.
I....

I don't even know what to say.

theres 5 or 6 champion stunning guns you can use this season or a bunch of subclass verbs you can use instead, we're way past the problem of not being able to stun champs with our builds we want to run lol

oh and like half the exotic guns have in built stunning capabilities

strand is one of the best if not the best subclasses in the game atm, statis warlock can give frost armor with wraithweavers and the statis super, best support ur gonna get on statis (or just run the new healing auto rifle)

if only they knew how to use subclasses
