Do I save my Exotic engrams for Final Shape?

I have a few exotics in my engram inventory. Will they still give old items if I decrypt them after TFS drops?

Typically Exotic engrams only give you Exotics you've already gotten anyway.

Exotic Engrams only naturally (unfocused) decrypt into world-drop exotics and non-world drop exotic armor (Legend Lost Sectors, Legendary Campaigns, etc.) when you've already acquired them.

In the Final Shape any exotics they release will be only acquirable through determined activities (exotic quests, Legendary Campaign, Legend Lost Sectors, Campaign Activities) and will (to our current knowledge) not be dropped via exotic engrams until you've already acquired the DLC's exotic armour.

So you can save them if you want better rolls of the Final Shape exotic armor AFTER you already unlocked it, but it will you will not unlock the exotic armor or weapons of the Final Shape through them.

Wait so how do you get new exotics that are tied to certain activities i have 200 hours and besides quests ones im yet to get one any other way than that.

There are a few ways, Xur will offer some of the older ones on his random exotic, he will also offer a selection of exotics. He also offers a quest to get an exotic cypher, that cypher can be used to unlock exotics at the monument near the vaults. There are several new light quests that offer exotics as well, both armor and weapons. Vex incursions always reward an exotic armor, and if you're not FTP its supposedly guaranteed to be an exotic you don't have.

Lastly is weapons and while some are just common loot or given out at the beginning of each season, others are the result of quests, like parasite and the exotic glaives from witchqueen.

World drops can give you non-current expansion exotics provided that you own the expansion they are apart of. You can also get them from legendary lost sectors and vex incursions.

Since we don't know how the exotic class items will work yet, it might be worth it if you have good rolls of all the exotics you want/need, but due to lack of knowledge we can't really say if it's a requirement to save or not.

If nothing else you can hold onto them until you get a new exotic you might want and try and focus the engrams into a roll you want. But to be honest they drop so frequently nowadays that holding onto them for that purpose seems superfluous.

As in if you deleted the ones you have NOW you'd probably have at least half as many once you unlocked said exotic anyway.
