Thoughts on Prismatic (New Subclass)?
Personally I think it is going to be one of the most fantastic things in Destiny (combat wise). Ever since I started, I always wished to get something like an invisible dodge, while being able to run a different knife. I really hope all aspects and fragments will be available to use on it. My only concern is that this will make all other subclass useless, but I think that if you want a more powerful version of a specific subclass, the base ones will be that.

From what I hear from others, many people seem to be disappointed and not happy with the new subclass. I am not sure why, as this is by far one of the most innovative changes in Destiny, while they say it is recycled and is going to be a let down.

Edit: With how it actually is going to be, I am a bit disappointed. In the live stream they described it as a custom subclass, that will make your guardian unique, when just from looking at the Aspects, there will be a few good combos for each. Depending on how it feels (on Hunter at least), I might just be using the already existing subclasses.

I want to know more about it. Right now I worry that Prismatic could result in everybody just running the same “meta” build for each class.
They’re saying it’ll mean loads more build options, but we already have loads of options that don’t get used because they just aren’t as good as what does.
Need to see more details.

anyone else still think they care about PvP lol? hope this finally makes them realise Destiny was ALWAYS a PvE game, with added PvP as a sidethought xD ... props on bungie for putting the xpac back in the oven it was CLEARLY undercooked before

Having a meta load out when having a subclass in general (talking to you Hunter Stasis) will always be inevitable, but there's also the factor when it comes to buildcrafting, which is if you're having fun with it. Experimenting and refining a play style that is fun for you is always an important thing.

Are the whales ignorant of the problem? This DLC is now officially proof in the pudding that Destiny 2 DLC is now officially Pay 2 Win. People were already tooting this horn with Light Fall, but it wasn't fully Pay 2 Win due to key differences. Now, the only reason players are going to buy The Final Shape DLC is to acquire the new Subclass!

Who cares about story? Who cares about weapons? Witness, who's that? All people, erhem, sorry, whales care about now is consuming the product called New Subclass!

If all whales care about is consuming the product, then it doesn't really matter if Final Shape is pay to win or not, does it? They'd buy it either way.
But, generally speaking, getting access to content which looks appealing (like a new sub-class) is why anybody buys an expansion.
It doesn't seem like you really thought through your message here.

Looks fun, which is the most important.
...BUT... it also looks a little lazy and looks gamebreaking.
Ah well, maybe I am wrong.

I think the fact that the class exotic has random rolls on which 2 exotics you combine is going to make things a lot more diverse because you have to make builds around what YOU have. Obviously you can get lucky and get the same thing as a youtuber or some meta god roll one comes around but that will take time for a lot of people to get.

You can't balance things with RNG. Eventually, everyone who plays the game regularly will have the combos they want (the meta combos).

That said, Bungie put out a Prismatic Deep Dive article today, and that assuaged a lot of my fears for the sub-class. I'd rather have gotten the Red darkness sub-class, but Prismatic should be a good time too.

It's either going to be a slot-in replacement for everything, or as your alternative offered, a less-useful alternative in every way due to being too restrained.

There's no between. It's gonna be bad.

But this is the point of having a new subclass that is thematic to the Final Shape. Plus Bungie has always been a PvE centered game despite of how controversial that may sound. What the ai enemies gonna do? Complain about this ♥♥♥♥? And Prismatic is suppose to be the final peak that the Guardian (us the player character) reached so Bungie HAS to make it feel that power fantasy.

Also if you're putting the same logic that D2 DLC is Pay 2 Win then you're saying the Season 6 (Season of the Drifter), Season 5(Season of the Forge), Warmind and Forsaken being Pay 2 Win because they all featured Recluse, Mountaintop, Luna's Howl, Redrix's Claymore being a thing, despite NOW either the guns or perks are now available to obtain through various means.

I have given you a Jester award for how much of an utter clown take that you have made. Just let people enjoy the DLC.

Edit: ALSO PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY THIS IS WHALING?! I pre-ordered Final Shape WAY BEFORE Bungie showcased Prismatic yesterday, and I was not expecting for that ♥♥♥♥ in any capacity.

Why can't there be any in between?

Devs can't balance things like this, look at any other sub-class release as a case-in-point. In this case, however, it's not even intended to be a complete alternative it's intended to "steal" elements of other sub-classes. This means it cannot steal them "fully" (at the risk of literally being a replacement) so it's either going to be broken strong or broken weak in how it pulls in other sub-class utilities.
