For PvE, its when they brought out the seasonal system, where they basically tell you what weapons to use each season....without actually saying it.
PvP has always been trash to me, i find it boring and predictable.
I prefer story, the better the story, the better the game, the stories in Destiny 2 today, in 2024 is trash, compared to what it released with, they removed the campaigns so newer players didn't know how crap the new stuff is compared to the stories like 'The Red War' and stuff like that.
Game is bad cus heavy ammo /s
there is no counter play. There is no outplaying. Its sit as a group and then team shot. Sitting in wells and sitting in bubbles and there is nothing you can do.
I was excited to somewhat come back to this game but yeah no if you are any good at PvP it will be incredibly boring. 6v6 is a cluster with groups doing just what i said they would do. I just went flawless as a group of 3 after taking 3 days to get my light level up and not having played for almost 3 years. We got a huge early lead and just watched them struggle to beat the time limit. There is no counter play and while we have special ammo they get none because they can't control the map or get kills.
If thats your idea of fun then yeah more power too you. Its incredibly uninteractive and boring.
Edit: to add to it - there are no more sniper duels, there are no more outplaying with the enemy team with a shotgun if they corner you and respect you, there is no more coming back from a fall. If the team is well coordinated and gets an early lead then the game is basically over. You say all of the 'one shot spam' but i didn't have any issues with one shot spam because i respected a weapons engagement ability. In 6v6 sure its not so bad but once a team gets a huge lead its easier to just afk in the back and let them win to get you rewards because there is NO coming back from a bad lead now. Its not possible. I mean unless the enemy team just throws themselves at you and all of their ammo then sure.
Sure the game had problems but this was NOT the solution. If anything it just killed PvP for me. Start the game with a shotgun and use it to get an early lead, swap to a side arm to control the tempo of the game and force them to come to you while you build up special ammo again and rinse repeat. This is not interactive at all in fact once people figure this out it will be horribly uninteractive.
To each their own. After thousands of hours this is by far my least favorite version of them 'balancing' PvP.
PVP also adds nothing to the story whatsoever, there is never a season (besides Drifter and let's face it, Gambit isn't PVP) where PVP ever added anything to the story advancement.
Lastly PvP has directly harmed PVE for no reason, how many nerfs were implemented in PVE because of something a few PvP sweats did?
PVP adds nothing to games that aren't designed to be PVP games from the start, and I sincerely hope more games follow the example of Helldiver's 2 and simply say no to the toxic, unbalanced, and unessential PvP experience.
good riddance
now you have to actually play the game how its intended rather than playing like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
special ammo still exists in a completely unfair environment where i can have it and you can't. GG WP.
Also i completely disagree with the PvP nerfs affecting PvE at all. on the contrary all PvP guns can be used in PvE. NO PvE guns can be used in PvP? Why? Because of the needs of the guns. Guns in PvE require power as fast as possible and guns for PvP require as much consistency as possible. You don't ever use triple tap in PvP but this perk is a god send in PvE. You don't ever really use rampage on bosses in PvE but its a godsend in PvP. They are 2 fundamentally different things. The problem is that instead of actually addressing outliers (lets look at the lord of wolves as an example) the gun was fun and interesting they broke it by adding the fire swap function. Instead of reverting the change they nerfed the gun into unsuitability and just create a new problem altogether. THe original busted state of the weapon still exists but it went from one spectrum to the other.
You can sit here and tell me PvP nerfed PvE but as someone who raided and was in the 0.1% PvP elo brackets i can tell you that the overall power level of the character as a whole in PvP has done nothing but stagnate and go down. Its no longer a game of individual skill its literally stick together and shoot people. They completely removed a 'problem' that they refused to address and created entirely new problems. They have already proven they can separate PvE and PvP quite easily but also refuse to do so. There are pages upon pages of feedback on the official forums (i've written and contributed to quite a few myself) and instead arrived at 'solutions' that just put the original problem on the back burner to change an entire system to create even MORE problems without fixing the initial issue.
Destiny 2 in a nut shell can be simplified by my previous sentence. They would rather change entire systems instead of addressing actual problems and then create more problems as they go.
Also I like how D2 players describe the "feel" of PvP. Or that a gun "feels so good". You know what it is? Aim Assist. You love the feel of Aim Assist. This was just a post for you to come in and drop your ELO numbers. Your a very special butterfly.
It's all "FIX PVP!" until they actually do it...
OMG THIS, finally someone with a brain. All these sweaty PvPers play like their life is on line IRL for what? Haha I shatter dived you HaHa I 1v3ed you with my god roll gun vs your 3 PvE rolls. We play for loot not a bad PvP experience.
