I don't think that they changed anything with Final Shape. They feel just as easy as they have always been at least for me. I consider myself to be about average, but maybe I have actually gotten better over the years.

I have not noticed an increase in difficulty with the vanguard strikes. Haven’t tried any nightfalls yet.

They were changed a bit

Seems that some now includes battlegrounds which were from the previous seasons activities.

Problem with those is that some includes champions. This might be a surprise since the normal vanguard strike playlist doesn't advertise champions.

It's the new light level cap. Putting the light level at -5 makes you do about 25% less damage and take about 16% more damage. On top of burns and surges and the comparison on how insanely easy strikes used to be because of increased resistance and damage above the recommended light level. Everything else should be the same, just arbitrary number scaling by capping light level under the enemy level.

- Prior year Battlegrounds have been added to the vanguard playlist since Witch Queen.

- At the beginning of Lightfall Vanguard Strikes were made more difficult, basically replacing the lowest difficulty of Nightfalls. The lowest difficulty nightfalls were removed. Vanguard strikes didn't inherit the higher power requirements of nightfalls during Lightfall IIRC.

- Champions started appearing in some Vanguard playlist activities during Lightfalll.

- At the beginning of The Final Shape Vanguard Strikes were given a minimum power level equal to the soft cap, which is 1945. Fortunately, you can reach the soft cap by just grinding public events in the EDZ for a few hours.

- Bungie is replacing older Vanguard Strikes with new harder versions; Lake of Shadows and Exodus Down for example.

- I tend to avoid Vanguard Strikes on days when there's the daily modifier that causes enemy solar damage to apply scorch to players, because a single stray round from half way across the map can kill you with tick damage when your health wasn't even that low.
