Where to Begin

I just got back into this game after years away from it, and I literally have no idea where to begin. There seem to be a bewildering number of options. Can someone recommend a general progression of areas?

Well first you may want to decide on class, after that open director and on the right side to the top there is a thing called timeline. In that you scroll to the left and you'll see the quest for Cayde's fate that's where you begin chronologically.

Once you do that you can try to follow previous expansions from timeline to get to current expansion. You don't need a particular build to progress in campaign story and it drops seaasonal weapons so. And In between you can try different playlists, raids and stuff.

If you are into collections and stuff from previous stuff, in the Tower there is a console to the left of where you spawn, that has previous quests you can try and play through again.
