Regarding the timer in the Dual Destiny mission
What happens when the timer runs out? Will players have to start the encounter over or will they be kicked into orbit and have to kill three bosses in Pale Heart again?

I have a friend I'd like to beat this mission with, but unlike me, he's not really into raids. Hence, there's a good chance we won't make it the first time. So I'm wondering what to be prepared for.

Kick to orbit. You can then relaunch the mission, you DO NOT have to rekill the 3 hive enemies. Just restart the mission itself. You get plenty of time, about an extra 6-10 minutes get added each time you clear a section.

What happens if both fire team members die,? Is that a kick to orbit like the extinguisher modifier? Or just a timer to self revive ,,?

just timer to self res. There is no respawn restriction zones (to my knowledge) so it's just the timer. Self res is 15 seconds so reviving your mate is ideal to keep good pace.
