Stuck with using transcendence

Hey so how do you use transcendence? I'm stuck on the Transfiguration mission and it doesn't reliably trigger transcendence even when I stand in the wellsprings and then my weapons do nothing and I end up stuck in an area with limited respawn.
Please help. I don't understand.
Is there another button I should be pressing?

Have to be Prismatic spec'd and press L1+R1 on the Xbox controller to activate transcendence after your pink bar is full. Probably same on PS... no idea on PC but I bet it's somewhere in the keybinds.

If you are using a wellspring you do not have to be spec'd into prism. Just that the bar will take longer to fill if you are not.
